No, its not a Cobra intake. Its a Mach intake.

Here is a Gen II engine.

You can see your upper and some of the lower, but here is JUST the lower to give you an idea:

This is about how much time it will take to swap out, inspect and replace if needed:

correct on a second gen the "upper intake" is that "y-pipe thing" that the throttle body attaches to, so i guess i need to get me some beer..........imrc's are stickin (thanks BG :(, but atleast they are paying for the gaskets, maybe i can squeek some labor out of them too :D)

sorry, havent had time to look at the car. I did pop the hood and pull on the air intake tube. the way I see it there can be vacume leaks from the tube and the intake gaskets. I did read somthing aout reaching ehind the engint to see if a plug was there related to someone's vacume problem but have no idea what to look for.

could someone list the areas to check for a vacume leak?

best way to seek out a vacuum leak is with a can of starting fluid *aka* ether.

spray any suspect area and if there is a leak the idle will increase.
the bigger the leak the more dramatic the rpm increase will be.

I would suggest doing it when the engine is cold.. you dont want to be spraying a buttload of ether around in a hot engine bay.

Myco, if you wanna drive it down to the south side.,, I'll give it a once over and hit it with a shot of starting fluid in the suspect areas
(upper and lower intake gasket)

I'm only a couple of exits south of beltway 8 on 45 south.

and we could prolly plug the trusty ole Xcal into it and pull a datalog off and see if anything looked "st00pid"

Mondo vacuum leak repaired.

should make a marked difference

it should run ALOT better once you change the plugs, coil boots and swap the trans fluid.

give me an update once you've driven it a bit.

Plugs are done. Thanks for the help w/ the vacuum leak. Bought everything for the trans fluid replacement. All the shops are saying it's not a good idea to do it but I did it on my 93 after 150k w/ no problems.

To cover their own azzes they have to tell you that.

They cant guarantee that your trans wont die, no one can.

"I" can guarantee that if you dont change your fluid ASAP that you will need
1. a new torque convertor
2. a new transmission

If your riding around looking for someone that will guarantee that your trans is going to be "better" or "fixed" after a fluid change, your not doing yourself, your trans or your wallet any favors.

I dont guarantee that a mercron 5 swap will fix/stop the trans shudder problem, but I do guarantee that if you "DONT".. that trans and TC days are numbered.. they might even be into "negative numbers".

yea its a d with a circle around it..and Myco even lives close to the mecca of TC salvation,
salvation aint cheap tho..
