Strutmasters lowered kit damaged some stuff on my car - the evap system on my car (charcoal canister) but also the cruise control. The tire was hitting the top of the driverside fender pretty bad and snapped this cable as I was turning. Its metal - I thought it was the hood release cable at first, but it turns out the only thing not working is my cruise now. I am assuming this is the throttle cable that goes through the fender to some kinda cruise control module under the steering wheel behind the dash or soomething?

How much of a PITA is this to replace? How much do these cables cost etc, What am I looking at. I have moog thunderbird springs in my trunk instead of these piece of crap strutmasters that bounce all over the place. I don't have access to a spring compressor (and i don thave the 100 bucks to rent one) since these damn moog ones ran me 200 for the front and rear.

so think we figured out its the cable that runs from the abs to the cruise control module. Its whatever cable that runs through the drivers side fender. Thres a bunch of stuff under there? What is all that?

D/S wheel well contains abs/tc module/pump, cruise control module/actuator, some evap stuff and the hood release cable. If it's a cable, you should be able to replace it with out having to buy a whole assy.

well thats a relief. So its the cable coming from the throttle to the cruise control module? - The evap stuff on the passenger side wasn't so lucky, all chewed up again. Car seems to be running just fine with out it. It was hauling ass for some reason today - maybe this is a good thing?

hmm maybe the cable isn't actually snapped - maybe just yanked it off the throttle some how and probaly sent whatever retaining clip flying - eh ill post pics come time when i fix it@!

here is the cable in question, the part that came loose was from somewhere on top of the intake by the throttle. I may be able to put it back together, looks like it just came loose I think. However, I have no idea how this normally runs because the length has to be just right to make the cruise work.

Anyone know where this thing slithers from the cruise control module to the throttle? I know its not right in the picture I think, Theres also a small nickle sized whole in the drivers side fender that it possibly could go through but i couldn't really fit the one end through. It seems to short to go that way, and the way I have it now it seems too long.

I'll snap some pics of the cruise box, it looks like the cable pulled out a little too far on that end also. Anything thoughts would be great! Where can I get a manual for this car? and what brand?

The cruise control cable you are talking about goes thru the large oval hole. The way it is in your picture. I removed mine yesterday cable and controller. Will not be using it any more.

What did you guys get into some kind of argument? Hehe .... Is that why your car is like 3800 with driver and mines 4180? I'm on the removing stuff kick now as well also? Or did yours break?

If your askin me no it didnt break. With the cobra intake I didn't want to fab it up. I like the pedal soft without the cc. Before the intake I always had it unhooked any ways. Mines 3900-3880 with me in it. That includes the bottle.

are they the same as the gen 1? damn my car is 3880 with out me in it. I just took the system out. I have a moon roof and carriage top, that adds some weight I think, also coil conversion. my cars a 95.

So from the cruise controle module it snakes up through that big whole to the intake? Do you recall how it was hooked on there? Just one clip or more?

Anyone have a diagram?

You can route the cable through another hole. I think I used the mater cylinder to ABS pump opening.

ill snap some pics when im swapping the springs on this beast. It looks like the cable stretched out of the cruise controle module bit a quick glance. I'm not sure if the module is ruined - or if its fine? or if I just need a new cable. - or maybe i dont need anything. I am going to try and hook it up at some point and see if it magically works again or not.

Anyone got a diagram? Where can you get a decent manual for these cars. At the library that had a haynes but it was very general and it lumped the mark 8 in with other models like mark 7 and conti i think

Not sure on the gen 1 cause the gen 2 tb is on top and very easy to see. The cc cable connected to the arm next to the throttle cable. Th arm on the tb has stub that sticks out with a groove on it. the retainerclip goes into the groove

damn on a gen 1 this looks like a pita. Theres what looks like a black plastic nub thing that the CC cable would go onto, but i think I broke it because the cable was in the fender well. i definetly don't have a retaining clip anymore. I'm going to go snap some pictures after I post this.

The black nub spins - when it goes clockwise it stops after a 2 revolutions and i can open and close the throttle with this.

I read that somoene removed there cruise control, not sure why (i'm assuming weight reduction). I forget who that is, i'm sure theyll chime in - I'm not sure how they went about removing it but it seems that my throttle is a lot stickier close to wot then it was pre-damage. I actually pressed it to the floor pretty hard from inside the car and the peddle was stuck - i had to jiggle the throttle from that black nub to free it up. The spring on the main throttle cable appears to be clicking and sticking a bit I gues, I'll have to hit it with some WD.

I just wanted to know if you ran into this when you removed the throttle body cable - because it seems that it has tension on there as part of the cable mechanism, but i'm not sure.

Also anyone have a diagram of this? I'll have to check that alldata thing where the password and name is library? but if anyone has this handy it would be excellent. I'm not sure what needs replacing and what doesnt at this point, Some of the wire from the cc housing seems to have been over extended.

Here are some pics, I'm not sure what goes where exactly because I don't have a diagram. Does the beefier part towards then of the cable go through that housing there on the same mount bracket as the throttle cable? Can this cable still be used?

Whatever it is it's making my throttle feel funny. Sticky and short. Good excuse to get a cobra intake manifold, tragity into triumph. Unless it's easy fixable... I got my corrado project taking up most of my time and money the n20 linc is the daily... Once the rado is done I'm gonna spray the hell ou of it theN set her aside for a terminator conversion. Rado has a 1.8t swap full rebuild with forge rods. Good for about 400 whp. But my goal was 250whp 2000 lbs. Fwd
