In the last year I've replaced ball joints, inner tie rods and sway arm bushings. I had the passenger tie rod replaced along with a tire rotation and wheel alignment about a month ago. Since then my car will pull hard left or right at the slightest rut in the road. On the highway it's all over the place. Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be. Tires are only 12 months old with less then 14,000 miles. Technician looked at it again and can't find anything wrong.

I have the same problem. Around town its fine on highway kinda all over the place, you have to DRIVE the car all the time. I searched "highway wander" all kinda stuff but nothing came up. I just did my lower balljoints, new front tires and still same thing. I'm wondering if its like the same problem my mk8 has, the EVO(electronic variable orifice) valve on PS pump is stuck in default mode of high power assist all the time. Now on my 2000 LS there is no EVO soloniod on the pump like a mk8. Later year LS's have EVO on pump. They state in Lincoln ads that 2000 LS has speed sensitive steering. I think the EVO valve is mounted on the rack, there is an electric unit on rack right where all the PS line hook into it. My rack does that little moan when turning one way, peeps mention that means its on way out. I'm gonna run the FORD friction modifier thru system like ford recommends first. Does yours do the maon and what year is yours?

Oh I just noticed yours started after you had an alignment do you have the print out of before specs and after? I think its the alignment. They have a range in the specs and one guy can put it on the high and next guy can aline on the low and car will track different.

No, I have no moan. It's a 2002 Sport. I think I will have it aligned at a different place just to see what happens. It literally started happening after the alignment, so if its true about a low and high spec that could be it.

that sounds more like the pump.
spend the $90-100 and get a good 4 wheel alignment. I bet it goes away.
mines lowered and i notice more bump steer. it was awefull before alignment. small changes feel big.

Done some research and others have the low speed noise not from pump but sounds like coming from under the dash at steering colume. Ford has a TSB about it to add friction modifier to the fluid and do 20 steps. Its rack groan.

wow, never would have guessed.

My conti does the same thing on the highway, kinda like fighting the whole way their. I figured it was just a lincoln thing.
