DETROIT - Ford Motor Co. will continue making the Lincoln Town Car, quelling speculation Wall Street's ride of choice would be mothballed after the 2007 model year.
Demand remains and production will shift to a plant in Ontario, Canada, Ford said Friday.
Ford in January said it will close the Wixom, Mich., plant where Town Cars are built and hadn't disclosed plans to make the sedan elsewhere.
"This is certainly good news for the industry. We were very worried we'd have to replace it," said Berj Haroutunian, president of New York-based Vital Transportation Inc.
Sales of the Town Car have slipped to about 47,000 in 2005 from a high of 149,000 in 1990, according to Autodata Corp.
