Can someone please tell me what might be wrong with my air ride?

My car used to always stay level after letting it sit(up to 5 days). Recently, after 5 days of sitting, the front end was slammed, back was fine.

Now, after 1-3 days, the front is slammed? Any ideas? The back lowers slightly but the front gets way low. Airs up fine when I start it up.

I'm not sure if this is an airbag issue or a vent??

Thanks in advance.

it wants you to drive it more often it wants love thats all :gr_devil:
or an airbag is leaking the vent is a electric switch thats part of the bag its self

leaking front bags

when you park the system it remains active for up to 1 hour and will adjust ride height.

AFTER 1 hour if your car falls down, it's 99% of the time gonna be 1 or both from bags are leaking.

vent issues are usuallly a "slam" while driving, because the compressor runs overtime and shuts down.

your issue is gonna def be a bag leak. and it's getting worse... of course

leaky bags :(

My car sat untouched for 5 months and didn't drop at all... bags shouldn't leak, at all.

look for one side to be lower after it leaks down? with one leaky bag, the weight of the eng will pull the good one down. i did my RF almost a year ago and shes been fine ever since

My compressor has started up to 13 hours after I last shut off the car. Probably just something with my car though. No need to worry, I have springs now,

You should get with the program quickly as if you wait too long you will cook the compressor and more than likely also go thru a battery and alternator. Go to American Air Suspension for the parts. Turn off your air ride switch when you are not in the car to try and save it from overworking when it sits without moving.

Ok, thanks for the quick replies. Looks like I need to start saving up!

while you are "saving", turn your air ride off.

The additional strain on the pump will kill it, and double your repair costs.
Also running a pump overtime will also kill the air ride relay and possibly the air ride computer as well.. and that drives the cost up even further.

To get an idea of how bad it's leaking drive it with the air ride off.
That will tell you how much the pump is working it's A$$ off keeping the bags filled.

*tip*
Adjust the front sensors so that the car is "higher" in the front.
This MAY buy you some time....
If you raise the front you might not "get down" to the area that is leaking.

ALSO the "increased ride height" will make you fix your car quicker, because you wont want to "look at it" in 4X4 mode.

hope this helps.

Also, you might only have 1 leaking front bag even tho both side fall down.

One strut wont support the weight of the engine.

Let the car "fall down", then go check the bags.
One MAY be harder than the other.
If so.. the softer of the two bags is likely "the leaker".

look up n00b!!!!! lol

Thanks for the replies.

I'm actually considering doing coils in the front, and leaving the air ride in the rear. Airmasters sells just the fronts. How does this affect the air ride though? I would assume the front is always up, so the compressor just gives air to the back, or will it try to give air to the front and back?

I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet, just thinking about my options.

it's very difficult to keep the rear operating correctly when the front bags are gone.

The system relies on the front sensors in order to properly adjust the rear sensors.
The side to side adjustment in the rear uses the average of the fronts plus the rear height sensor to make the car level.

I suppose you could try and get the front sensors to work..it'd be a PITA and in the end would probably not work right.

If it were me, I'd put new front bags on it.

I've converted all four corners to springs on mine. It's alot stiffer has more of a performance feel then before. And i never have to worry about bags or pumps again. personally i love it.
