I have a 2004 LS8 and it currently has the six cd changer. It has all the bells and whistles in every other department, except for the stereo. I would like to change it to the navigation system, but I have some questions.

First off, will it even be feasible? Or would it require replacing a lot of components and rewiring for other things.

Since I can get satellite radio, my car has some sort of satellite receiver, will it already have one for the navigation?

Would I be able to buy one direct from lincoln, or should I try eBay?

Would labor be too expensive to get it installed, or should I just do it myself? I'm not too worried about doing it myself as I am proficient at working with electronics and know some people who could probably help if I get in a bind. But if the labor isn't too much to just get someone else to install it that would be easier.

Does the ford navigation system have any sort of auxilliary audio line in? This would be nice, as I would like to put in a car pc at a later date (will be using a separate screen hidden somewhere else to keep the car looking nice so I don't care about using the navigation screen).

Any help is appreciated. I'd rather have actual Lincoln parts to keep the dash looking clean without having tacky third party things all over the place.

Tried the stock NAV option, not doable w/o TONS of work, harnesses and all are different. I went aftermarket and have much better functionality than stock. Looks just as good too.

When you say tons of work, is it tons of hard work, or tons of tedious work. I don't mind doing a bunch of work if it means I can get the look I want.

And if I do end up going with a third party system, are you using the Navigation Bezel?

You will be looking for wiring that does not even exist. You will probably spend $3K just equipping your LS with a stock NAV. Pioneer AVIC D3's go for $750 now a days. Yes that is the bezel I used, you just need to hollow it out with a dremel.

I guess I'll just go with a third party system. I like the look of the AVIC-D3, do you know if it is possible to use the steering wheel controls with it?
