getting a new fuel pump, and might be sprayed or blown in the forseeable future, and wondering if i have to buy an adjustable FPR if i get the hi pressure pump as opposed to the std pressure 255lph..

i know i will later, just want to know if i can use the hi pressure pump right now w/o an AFPR, so i dont end up having to buy another fuel pump later on.

From my understanding you can not utilize the factory Mark VIII FPR for too long with a high pressure fuel pump. From what I have been told the diaphragm inside will eventually rupture. You can get a Kirban AFPR here, same place I purchased mine from....along with the fuel pump (GSS342).

In my mind, better to be safe than sorry.

I've been running the Walbro 255 (not high pressure) in my car with the stock FPR for over 2 years now with no problems. I also ran out of gas one time and the Walbro is fine.
