Hey i have an 05 Ls with jsut the standard audio system..i have since replaced everything except the head unit..im looking into buying the Pioneer avic d3..but when i went onto the pioneer website to see if it would fit only single din radio came up..can i fit a NAv..i know that my stock radio isnt square because it flares at the top but can it be done?

Yes...yes u can. Do a search in this site and you will see plenty.

$m0k3LS

It would seem so, but its good to have ppl here who have done certain things themselves and can give u a better explanation of how to do something, rather than GOOGLE images=] Hell, jeeves doesn't know=]

im looking into it now i think im gonna order that bezel from ls koncepts to keep it stock looking as I can...does anyone know if a standard Lincoln ls wire harness is all i need to install one of those.. i Know it has speed sensors and crap too but i just wanna know what im getting my self into since ill be doin this myself...

Im not too sure about the wiring for that particular unit, but i know the single din tv i have, i had to get another wiring harness. Also, IF u want the tv to play while driving, ground the "parking brake" wire(i think thats what its called) with the rest of the grounds.

yea i read that too.. i read that whole long arse post about the avic d3..the only thing im wondering about is a mounting kit..i dont want the nav flopping around in there..and the damn plastic bezel cost 60 bucks...but the nav itself is relatively cheap.. i found it for under 600 bucks at cartronixplus.com..after i install this thing my signal voltage should go up and then i can expect to hit higher #'s at the soundoffs

That sounds about right. i haven't gotten my system yet. Looking into it very soon though

does anybody know anything about the mounting of the avic d3..i read the post but didnt see anything (maybe i didnt read close enough) about actually screwing the actual unit into your car...do i need to buy a mounting kit or fabricate something..

you use the factory radio brackets to mount the D3 to the LS.

You can do it

I just had mine customed installed for about 300 bucks. The guy said he customed made the bracket for mine. It looks good but the 6x9's don't work anymore....I think I may have got a crappy install.

installed myself. very simple wiring, just like a single din, except for the extra ground, which is now just spliced into the black ground wire. used the factory brackets. HU is a kenwood ddx 7015 from another member here. bezel from lskoncepts, painted black. Sorry to all who've seen this a couple times already:

you could take the faceplate off your factory radio, and cut it to fit the nav unit. at least you could with the gen 1's

As others have said, you easily use the factory mounting bracket. It screws onto the Avic D3, then the bracket mounts to the same factory holes that it originally did with the stock head unit. I used the 03+ faceplate from one of the vendors here. Not sure about 03+ LS's, but for 2000-2002, you will need to modify the 03+ faceplate some with a dremel tool in order to get it to fit the Avic. Once done, the install is tight and secure.

If you plan to retain use of your steering wheel controls, you will need one of these as well.

And if you want to control an Ipod, you will need to pick up the Pioneer Ipod cable..
