Hi, everyone:

Does anyone know if the 2000-02 LS V6 Auto transmission be replaced with the 5 speed manual? I've tried searching the forums, but the only replacement questions I found dealt with replacing the V8's transmissions (for all practical purposes, a resounding NO :) )

I've been looking to get a 5 speed but, as you know, they're extremely rare. On the other hand, the price of V6 autos in my area has dropped like a rock. Therefore, if a transmission swap is possible and relatively inexpensive (say, within a few thousand dollars), this might be an option for me. What do y'all think?

IMHO, it would cost more than the car. If the manual is a rare car, so is the transmission (and all associated hardware), pedal assembly, pcm program, etc. As hard as it might be, it may be less expensive to just find the car.

I agree. I have a 5 speed and I know there are lots of differences in the pcm among other things. Just keep looking, there are 5 speeds out there.

BTW, I love the car!!

ecus are different. you can pick up used trannys but u need an pedal, ecu, harness, hydraulics lines for pedal and lines that tie into brake resevoir, flywheel and clutch, shifter, and all the little clips that hold it all together. the pcm code confused sct when i tried to get a tune
