I found a company that said they could reground our camshafts for the 3.9L.
Just the only catch is you have to send them yours you have.
They told me they charge $145 per cam.
Do you guys think it would be worth it or not.
And I read the 2003 - 2006 ls v8 has vvt. Would it mess with that or is there a way around it.

But anyway wanted to let you guys and girls know about this place.

Company is called Schneider cams
website: schneidercams.com
phone number: 619-297-0227

I talked with the local ford dealership and they want $419.02 plus tax.

So I wanted to see if you guys know anyone or anywhere i can get some used cams to send them so I can still drive my LS till they come back.

I did cams before the supercharger - they are off now since the overlap was an issue once boosted.

not sure it's something I would recommend. more power at the top end - maybe, less driveability - yes. do the heads first.

u still have the cams u took off

and u saying you don't think it be a good idea to get that done right

I do - in the heads that I ported&polished before the supercharger project.

I don't thing you really get enough power gain to make it worth your while. porting the heads is worth it, but the cams alone - not. the LS uses bucketed tapets - and do not play nice with higher angled cam profiles.

I see where you coming from it wasn't much for a power gain i was looking for. I mean yea i would like a little bit more but more or less i wanted a choppy idle.

And how hard was it to port and polish the heads

yea could do that lol but i want to stay way with coils and misfires lol
tell that to the dude who thought he was gonna port and polish his heads by putting sandblasting sand in his intake while running it all b/c i dude that messes with honda told him it would work lol

i read that somewhere on this form

OMG, I'd say no one is that stupid but this "dude that messes with honda told him it would work" then it all makes sense.

I was replacing a set of cylinder heads on my Dads '79 Firebird several years ago and this guy that lived down the street, that I did not care for, would always come over when a hood was popped.

Well, he comes over and he is just in the way, practicing his "one-up-manship" etc. While the heads are off he gets under the car for some odd reason and stands back up, leans over the fender and all this sand from his shirt falls into the cylinders. Man I was instantly pissed!! Told him to get the hell away from here all that!! This idiot says, "Oh, I'm sorry, well just put the heads on and as soon as you start the car it'll BURN the sand out! I told this jack-ass "Yeah and it'll take the cylinders with it." Unbelievable some people are.

This thread just reminded me of that.

i think that would of been a fight there someone would of done that to me.
He must of be related to the dude that works on the honda lol
