When I start my mark after its been sitting overnight I can certainly hear the cams for a few seconds after starting.

Could this be the cam tensioners? Is there a way to quiet them easily?

Would some auto-rx help this?

I certainly don't want to damage my engine.

Apart from this it runs great...

Typical problem. Its the cam chains. It wont hurt anything and i would say 75% of all marks do it, at least the ones ive owned have had the same issue. Its nothing to worry about.

Mine used to do it. And I know I'm gonna catch bobtheoilguy hell for this but I use lucas and unless it sits for 3 days it doesnt do it. I also run 5-20 castrol. sorry for the lucas comment in advance. Ive run it in my 8500 rpm small block mudtruck since it was new[4 yrs and three seasons] and I dog the hell out of it and it still goes like a top. ;)

Conti's do the same thing also. Some people claim running mobile 1 in it will fix it. I've never done it.

Good to hear especially since my lincoln may become my primary ride soon...

Auto-RX certainly won't hurt anything, it will only clean up the engine.

I would try it, if it doesn't work then no big deal. Like others have said it's not a big issue and then you'll have a clean engine.

It's the secondary cam tensioners.

They are oil pressure driven and cure is a Purolator Pure One filter with its anti drainback feature really helps keep the oil up there at the tensioners.

Doesn't the FL-820S have an anti-drainback valve too?

Jamie, sounds like a lash adjuster... put some MMO in the oil and see if it helps...
