California Lemon law.....

I've had my ls for over two months. Right after I bought it a realized that the car jerks when I shift to drive or reverse. I took it to the dealer and the first time they said they found that the shift siloniod was bad and replaced it. When I got the car back it was doing the same thing. so I took it back last week and they gave me the car back the next day and said nothing was wrong with it.

My question is does anyone know anything about the lemon law and if you guys think my car qualifies.
I only have a couple more weeks on my factory warrenty and I want these clowns to get this fixed. Maybe I'll ask them to drop a new transmission.

Please give specifics about your LS (year, options, engine, color, etc). We can't help you without this information.

On the lemon law question, for a problem like this, I think its a bit premature. There are other similar problems depending on the details of your car, and we can point you in the right direction.
 
its a 2002 ls V-6 (i don't know why color would matter) it has just a little over 49,000 miles. it's all factory right now, no after market parts on it at all.. This is about the only problem I have with it.
 
When problems arise with the LS transmission performance, there seem to be 3 recurring causes. (1) the solenoid pack is bad; (2) the valve body is bad, or (3) the powertrain control module (PCM) needs reprogramming. Since you've addressed #1, I'll bet its the valve body (PCM issues were more common on 2003 models with the upgraded transmission). I'd take it back to the dealer and have them check the valve body. Is your car under warranty?

And you're right -- color doesn't matter. Just wanted to see if you're paying attention!
 
For info about the CA lemon law, do a search. I posted a link to the CA Attorney General's Office's Web page on that subject in another thread here a few months ago.
 
Here's what I understand about the Lemon laws. I admit I'm no attorney and CA can be different with their interpretation of the law (GAWD can they be different!) But my understanding is you have to give them at least three opportunities to make it right. Next, I thought you had to be the original owner. My guess is the latter can vary from state to state...but I'm pretty confident of the former.
