C63 AMG Test Drive

I was able to test drive a C63 AMG today, and that is one bad ass car. I know the sales guy, and we went for a little drive. It got me wondering what kind of gears are in that thing. Based on this info, can anyone tell me what kind of gears are in this car?

Ratios

Final drive: 2.85
1st gear: 4.38
2nd gear: 2.86
3rd gear: 1.92
4th gear: 1.37
5th gear: 1.00
6th gear: 0.82
7th gear: 0.73
Reverse: -3.42/-2.23
 
I don't understand your question. What do you mean by the type of gears? From the AMG C63 web site, under specifications, the gear's you posted are the ones in the tranny. Are you asking what the gears are made of?

Rear axle ratio, although i think GMAN listed it as a final drive of 2.85:1. Not sure what GMAN wants to know though. RPM Vs MPH? If so, we need the tire diameter and Kustom to calculate.

its got a 2.85 rear!! thats what your asking??right?
like we have 3.07/3.73/4.11 etc?

look at first gear,its 4.38:1, we have 2.84:1
second gear is still higher than our first!


that would mean, that in first gear our marks would need 4.40:1 gears to match the ratio that amg has in 1st gear,

thats nucking futz, but the glory of having 7 speeds instead of 4.

No, we'd need a 3.39 rear gear ratio to match., so it's not far off. I don't see a point in 7 gears. More service station visits? lol.
 
We always upgrade our gears to 3:73 or 4:10's. I just wanted to know what the C63 AMG had. That car was bad ass. It's got me longing for something that I can't possibly attain.:p But who knows, maybe I will win the lotto one day.
 
Man that car is the BADDEST 4 door for the money on Earth.

if i was spending that kind of dough,i would wait for the 09 cts-v with another 100 horses,

plus ,since its supercharged,it will be easy to up the horsepower even more for very little extra cost.

why not just get a marauder, stick in that much cash, and BAM!!!! blow them both away. easy.
 
A Rauder? Stick the money in to go fast and have a car that is in no way near to the quality of the Benz. I'm lusting for a Rauder myself, but comparing the Rauder interior and fit and finish to the Benz, it aint even close.

Following that train of thought... why not start with a Crown Vic, use the extra cash for a 5.4 4v swap. Or use an aero Vic, use the money for a blown 393w or something. Or just do a cheap 4eye Fox with a blown 460....

With this mentality, you end up with a 7 second Geo Metro.

yeah, i agree

the idea of the amg or cts-v is to have a true sports sedan that goes like stink and corners on rails,all the while feeling perfectly balanced ,that would never happen in something like a vic/marauder.
