Buying a 93 Mark, but rpms dont work?

guys my neighbor is selling me his almost new 93 mark with 90,000 miles but the rpms dont work is this something that can be fixed easily or do i have to take apart the intrument cluster? thanks for the help.

when i got mine the tach didnt work either, i just went to the salvage yard and got a new one and put it in and it works great. its not too difficult to replace, just a bunch of screws.

i wish i could tell u how to do it but its been over a year and im no where near my car at the moment.

the gen 1's had a prob with the actual gauge backing coming unglued and contacting the needle so it wouldnt move
