Been lurking in these forums for quite some time. I've had an '01 V8 for about 4 years. Appreciate all the tech here.
I stumbled upon a depressing surprise while in the midst of a valve cover/cop/plug job. I've made tender wrench love to my LS many times and this particular job was on par with the other handfuls of items I've had to repair to keep this thing on the road.
I was fairly pleased with being almost done when I made the following discovery. Seems the slot the coil fits down through got overly hot or the previous owner used a caustic cleaner on the plastic cover. The area around the hole would just crumble away.
Might be wise to look out for this before starting a valve cover gasket job so you can have all the parts you need in place prior to starting. I just ordered a replacement driver side valve cover...
