Burning up HID relays?

that's nice. instead of deleting the post how about leaving the question and then posting the resolve so we can all learn from it. that would be swell

I'm thinking he wired the relays up incorrectly. I remember the original post, and from his description, the relays were blowing out. No effing way that could happen on such little draw unless you wire the relay up incorrectly.

Long story short I have a 98 that came with HIDs and they ran off 80VDC rather than 12V(which I expected) and had a 'pre-ballast' which was basically a voltage multiplier. I didn't know about it and thought that I'd just wire up the stock headlamp wires to the relay like you'd do on like 99% of other cars. As a result I fried like 2 relays before figuring it out. Anyway I have it all done now with the HID's and relay mounted and working properly. I'll post some pics tonight.

TLDR version=Make sure you take out the voltage multiplier when putting aftermarket HIDs on a 97-98 mark VIII.
