Brembo's on The Mark

lscmkviii, I think it would be best if Injected Engineering answered your questions, because they did all the measuring and work on the car. They know "THE MARK" better than anyone. Just tell them Mike sent ya... :) I would hate to give you the wrong info, and mess up your project. You can email, call them, or post the question on their forum. Here you go...

I added more progress pictures to the link below. The Mark has it's new shoes on, but there are a couple more things left to do.

The front SS lines need to be installed. I think Aric might try the ones supplied in the Brembo kit. They are about 1" shorter than the stock rubber lines. He would have to make a bracket though. Or, the Classic Tube ones might still go on the car to save some time. They will be here on Tuesday.

He is also tossing around the idea to use a 1/4" wheel spacer in the rear so he does not have to modify the sway bar. If he does that, he will need to install some drag racing extended wheel studs in the rear hubs. Before all that, he is going to lower it some more to set the stance, because it is way too high right now. It appears right now, that the rear wheel will squat and disappear in the wheel well like I want it :)

The Classic Tube SS lines are now installed both front and rear. I added some more pictures to the link above. Aric really liked the Classic tube kit, that included new brackets too. A very nice kit.

He is going to put some drag racing rear hub studs in, and try a 1/4" hub centric spacer in the rear to do two things. 1) Get the tire off the sway bar. 2) Get the wheel closer to the inside edge of the fender.

I am not sure if this will work or not yet, because it is hard to tell if there is a 1/4" to give between the inner fender and the tire the way it sits now. Unless he is thinking of rolling the fenders. It is very difficult to judge this, and Aric is exploring options now to see what is most visually appealing with the stance. I totally trust his judgment with this, and he knows exactly what I want.

Nothing is totally decided yet, but with the many curves that the Mark has, the look of the rear favors pushing the rims out more towards the fenders, while keeping it inside the wheel wells.

It is all about the stance... :)

Thanks, Guys. Well, the traction control light still comes on... :) Aric used a 1/2" spacer to get it off the bar. Good news is - there is full travel of the 285 inside the wheel well without hitting anything.

There are some tweaks that still need to be done. The same anodized racing studs are going on the front wheels too, along with a 1/2" spacer to push the fronts out just a little more. And then off to Aric's friend to get the entire suspension laser aligned, and road forced balanced if needed, to ensure it tracks correctly, and there is no shake at any speed.

The Mark is lower now than it has ever been. Not sure if it will make it over a speed bump now.

Another thing, this is something I have never heard of anyone doing before with the stock computer... Aric reset - zeroed out the computer to not raise up the Mark real high for around town driving.

It keeps the lowered look and stance like in the photos tooling around town. I probably hosed that explanation up real good, and maybe Aric can share what he did when he posts the offset numbers for the wheels.
 
Congratulations! The car looks good. I won't be too much of a smartass about those spacers :p .. while you're getting the car aligned, do a search for alignment specs. In my experience I had better luck with what the guys on the board here gave me for alignment specs than the factory specs. Also since you're lowered now make sure you get shorter bolts for your swaybar, so it sits level again. It makes a huge difference, you'll definately be happy you shortened them up. It really tightens up the suspension in the corners.

That sounds pretty neat, Aric (<sp?) "reset" the air suspension computer, please please share. I'd love to get rid of the two step program. Thanks for sharing all the photos, also!
 
Thanks. :) lol, I was against the spacers from the start. The wheels fit the Mark as measured without spacers - with a rear sway bar modification, and I would have been on my way like it was. Aric was way more critical on the stance than me though. He said - let me work with it some more to get it perfect, and I said go for it. He used a 1/2" spacer front and rear to push the wheels out as close to the fenders as he could.

I think he flat out nailed it pushing the wheels out that little bit.

Aric suggested that I hold off on the front end alignment for now, since he is going to pull the motor anyways in the near future, and I hardly drive it once a week. Aric used his Ford Star NGS tool to dig into the computer and zero out and recalibrate the air ride sensor limits to keep the stance. It still works like stock and airs up/vents - but not as much travel as before.
 
Just a fast question because i really dont know that answer, is the mark8 irs the same as 99/01/03/04 cobras?

You have a very nice mark, is it lowerd? How to you go about that with the air system?
 
No the Mark VIII IRS is completely different than the late model Cobras.
 
Thanks again, Guys. :) The air ride sensors were moved from their stock location to lower the car. There has also been some computer software modifications done to keep the lowered stance while driving around town too.

i don't like the gen. 2's as much as the gen. 1's, mostly just for the front end, but i do have to say very nice!

They did a good job getting those wheels to fit with such tight tolerances. Looks like it was pulled off perfectly.
 
Here is a quick question about your drive train. Who built your transmission? I am getting ready to do an engine swap and in the midst of all this work I wanna make sure my trans is going to be up to it :confused:
 
Thanks Again, Guys! :) The transmission was done by Steve and Mike Bradshaw - Bradshaw Performance Transmissions here in Georgia. You can reach them through Aric's website under the vendor forum.

The transmission is holding up perfectly, and was built to handle a conservative 500rwhp. Aric told me they are very modest with their estimating, and this thing should handle way more power then that. I am also running a PI 3600rpm stall single disc torque converter.
