So the seat in my 95 had difficulties moving forward and back, but wouldn't move up or down at all. I figures it was the seat track, so i installed a brand new seat track. Well the seat moves forward and back now perfectly, but still now up or down movement:mad:.
Any ideas as to what could be wrong here? I need help thanks.

Yes, I'd check the switch first, the easiest way would be swap it with a known good one.

Was the old track rusty, or were there any other signs of corrosion?

If the switch and wires look OK, I'd swap the module next.

The old track had a little rust on it. I printed some diagrams from all data in hopes of using them to help me discover the problem, but i don't know to use them ha.

A long time ago before i came to the conclusion that the seat track was bad, i pulled the seat and the motors out of it cleaned and reassembled it all. The reason i did that was the seat wasn't moving forward and back, but it would move up and down perfectly. After i cleaned things the up and down stopped working. How do i check the switch? If i had a spare i would just swap it out but i don't...

Do you have an ohm meter or continuity checker? If you do, you could use that to check the switch, and the wires going to the module.

Also, if it moved up and down before, I'd check the wires and connectors going to those motors and from the module. Are both height motors (front and rear) inop?

Look for any wires or connectors that have any green oxide on them. If you can open the module, check in there for any green too.

Check the wiring diagram, you should be able to see what color wires go to the switch and for each motor. The front and rear height motor wires from the module are labeled Y/LB, R/LB and R/LG, Y/LG (front height motor, rear height motor) in my 94 manual for the driver's seat. Your colors might be different on a 95?

So I pulled the switch apart and all these springs and small pieces fell out.

Now the seat only moves forward and back by contacting these points, connecting any other points does nothing.

So now my seat is even more broke!

I don't know what to do.

Also I forgot to mention that I would hear something that sounded like a very quiet click when I would try and adjusts the front of the seat up, and the rear of it down. Front down and rear up would make no sound.

I'm just at such a loss as of what to do.

Do you think the switch is bad or the module?
Can the switch even be reassembled after taking it apart?
And finally how can I test if the module is bad?

Lots of questions, yes I know Haha.

Yep, that's why I said, "Yes, I'd check the switch first, the easiest way would be swap it with a known good one".:)

I took one of those apart once.

I cleaned it, and managed to put it back together. It still didn't work.

I swapped it with another one and it worked fine.:D

Really? Did yours display similar symptoms as mine now is?

I'm a poor college student:D, so i would hate to buy a new switch just to find out that the switch wasn't the problem, then have to go out and spend $60 on a module.

I could go to a local salvage yard and I'm pretty sure the guy would just give it to me because I go there a lot.

You should be able to go to a local salvage yard and get charged prolly $5 or $10 on that switch. You will most likely spend more on gas to get there and back then that!

Similar, one of the motors wouldn't run. This one might have been a height motor, I've had to fix a few of these lately, it's hard enough to remember which car it was.:D

Is this one of those NOS tracks? Did you test the motors with 12 volts to see if they run?

Sometimes if a small motor has been sitting for a long time, they get stuck. Often, a few taps on the motor using a sredwriver handle with voltage applied, frees them up.
Yes, I'm a backyard mechanic.:D

Well I decided I would try to clean and resemble the seat switch.
I noticed that there was a black buildup on the terminals matching to the functions that wouldn't work. I scraped it off with a screwdriver reassembled things and it works like new.
Thank you everyone for the help, this forum has saved me lots of money and aggravation.
