im in the market for new rotors and pads amd i was wondering is it worth getting the drilled and slotted rotors or is it better to just get normal rotors ?

No benefits unless you track. In fact, eBay drilled rotors are more prone to cracking and rusting than blanks. They do look nicer though!

If you're going to get wheels later on I would get drill and slotted, to me they just look so much better. I don't think the functionality of drill/slotted will really be noticed with normal day to day braking. I mainly got them for looks, then I had to make my calipers looks nice too because it looked ugly to have nice rotors and an ugly calipers over it. I would definitely get SS lines in all 4 corners though.

Yeah I was going to write that too. Drilled tend to crack more easily than just slotted or blanks.

Are you getting ebay rotors or that rotor pro package?

Technically, there's not much of a case for the drilled/slotted rotors on a daily driver. You really have to push the car a LOT harder then you can normally (aka sanely) to get their real benefit. If you plan to track your car or do other performance driving events then they would potentially benefit you depending upon what you are doing.

I just went with blanks when I did mine. The hardest driving I do is auto-cross every month or two and typically the course isn't long enough for me to get any real benefit. They would probably help towards the end of the course though.

Aesthetically, it's all about whatever floats your boat. If they are the look you want and within budget, go for it :)

If you are going for brake feel improvement, the general consensus is that stainless braided brake hoses are a must.

Cam had said in his landspeed thread that he got a great set off ebay for 210 with the drilled and slotted rotors and pads so I thought I would try that out and see how it was the rotor pros is a little expensive for me

Well yeah since the rotor pros include ss line wich are like 90 for each pair, thats 180 that you get with the package. What is it like 350 shipped?

Well ss line stands for stainless steel (stainless steel braided lines), which wont expand like the oem lines. You get a firmer pedal and they become more efficient when you brake since you don't loose braking power going to expanding the lines.

Edit-

the flexible brake hose gets extended due to constant fluid pressure against its walls leading to a condition popularly called brake line swelling

These brake hoses made out of stainless steel are tougher and they also are less prone to getting distended due to pressure from the brake fluid. A braided steel brake hose are made of soft materials that are covered by braided steel-strips. It is an improvisation that is also commonly seen in plumbing lines at homes. These braided steel brake lines are extremely efficient and what’s more they also look great. They will give off more predictable brake pedal modulations with a firmer feel. Properly designed big brake kits such as Stoptech big brake kits or Brembo big brake kits, come with these stainless steel hoses for the added benefits.

What he said. Basically they don't balloon up like the rubber OE ones.

If you get a decent set of drilled rotors with chamfered or radiused holes they are not prone to cracking.

I installed PowerStop Cross Drilled rotors on all four corners of my Explorer and I am sold. I will install them on the LS when the time comes. Better braking feel and power with even moderatly hard braking, such as when an idiot waits until the last moment then pulls out in front of you...we've all been there...and especially in the rain. The imrovement in rain alone is worth the switch to cross drilled. And that IS on a daily driver. Plus the improvements in looks makes it a no brainer. I also have experianced FAR better pad life with the switch because they run so much cooler. Compared to factory pads and rotor's, more than double. At 40k my front pads were down to the wear indicators, which is not out of the question in my book. I replaced all four rotors with Powerstop cross drilled and all pads with Performance Friction's Carbon Metallic pad (Not Carbon Ceramic which will last longer but give less braking performance). I now have 140k and the front pads are "almost" to the indicators.

As far as slotted, the slots "scrape away" a small layer of pad every time the brakes are engaged. And thus, wears away the pads quicker. This will give better braking performanceon the track. Not needed on the streets, IMO.

A quality set, and warpage/cracking is not an issue and offers improvements that can be realized on a daily driver. And they come standard on Vettes, Porsches, Astons...even V6 Benz's (Benzes? MB's?) have cross drilled rotors.

Better looks, better performance, better wear...Why not?

Yep, +1 on the Rotorpros package. I just need to find a set of SS rear lines before installing mine.

I am told the gen1 rear ss lines from stoptech will fit on the gen2 no problems. I of course found this out after I had some stock replacement lines converted to SS. :)

I have Powerslot Cryo-treated rotors with Akebono Euro Pads and i love them on the LS. Car feels lighter when braking and they look great also the dust from the pads is unnoticable!
