Okay so once again there is something wrong with my LS. I'm thinking it's my breaks but I just want to make sure. The check engine light is on, I get several messages that say check park break, check transmission, check advantrac (sp?) and the etc failsafe mode. Also the park break light is on. I have no idea what's wrong with it. I haven't been driving any different. I do remember that I was driving on a bumpy road when the safe mode came on and from then on all these problems came up. So many problems with this car and I only had it for 6 months. It's 89k miles. Heeeeelp!!

Your battery is probably failing. Some of your coils may be failing as well.
Unless you are having braking problems, I don't see why you think your brakes are related to any of this. (The service parking brake message is related to the electric module that applies the parking brake, not to the brakes in general. It often acts up when your battery is weak.)

I am having break problems. When I press my foot on the break it takes a long time to actually stop. Like I would have to press it hard. Also, when I do this it makes that horrible squeaky brake sound. It never did that before. Could it be anything else besides the break? Like why would the safe fails mode come on? I will try unplugging it and see if that works. Thank you

All those errors sound like a failing alt/battery/electrical. I'd go have an on-car charging system test done. Most auto parts places will do it for free. Doesn't necessarily tell you what is wrong though, just that you have problems.

For the low pedal and squeaky noise, just pop the wheel off and look at the pads/rotors. See if they are glazed up or metal on metal. Check the brake fluid, make sure you aren't low or out. Then inspect the hoses and bleed the brakes.

If you don't have the confidence or means to do the above, then I would seek out a reputable mechanic to look the car over for you. Call a good ford/lincoln dealer and tell them what your car is doing, and how much a diagnosis would cost. Here it's only $10 for anything that doesn't require them removing parts.

Must be nice! Out here they charge an hours labor (~$90) just to write up the ticket!

No Shyt! Here, one stealership gets $84/hour and the other gets.......wait.....$96/hour! And that applies to anything they do. They won't even look at anything without a minimum 1/2 hour labor at one place and 1 hour minimum at the other.

Yup, when my battery was weak, the car still started just fine but I would always have some kind of light or message to do with the brake or parking brake. New battery, no messages or warning light since.

When my battery went (after the alternator died) my cluster lit up and as I was pretty much coasting down the street (~25mph) my speedo showed I was doing ~130 and my tach showed ~6500rpm! I wish I had a camera!

Okay.

1. You need to get the brakes fixed. They are very important.

2. Fail safe mode is not at all related to the brakes. It is a separate problem. It is often caused by one or more marginal ignition coils. It could also be caused by a bad battery/alternator or by a bad throttle body.

3. Disconnecting your battery won't fix the brakes or the fail-safe problem.

Alright well it's definitely the brakes. I am going to get them fixed this weekend along with an oil change. Does anyone know exactly or roughly how much the brakes will cost to get done? Also, all these messages are popping up cause of the battery? So if I get a new battery it should be fine? I got 3 or 4 of the coils replaced so I know I have to get the rest done too. I'm just trying to figure out why all this is happening. I'm still a bit confused..

Replacing the brakes on the car is a walk in the park. Just having the basic tools you can change them yourself and save $$$.
