What is the best brake upgrade for the Mark VIII? I am looking for something cheap but affective.

Best:Swap to 99-up Cobra hubs up front and run the Cobra 13" rotors in from with the dual piston calipers, out back same hub swap and the cobra 11"(?) rotors with a bracket that is sold to use the stock Mark caliper out back(since it has a bigger piston bore than the cobra rear caliper). Of course by doing this you will have to get different wheels.

Cheapest/easiest: New rotors with good pads and a full bleed of the brake system(depending on the age of your car)

i have a 13" rotor and bigger caliper conversion from ford motorsport on my front... it stops the sh!t out of the car no matter how fast I'm going..

i dont think it was too expensive.. maybe around $500.. which doesnt seem too high since it is Ford parts..

Stack: Discbrakesareus is a ripoff. They tell you the rotors are Made in America... they don't tell you they mean "north America", aka Canada.

They like to sell you the "powdercoating". Fine and dandy, but they powdercoat the ENTIRE rotor. That's bad.

Scorpio: Yeah. Just have a machine shop re-drill the rotors for the Mark bolt pattern. But why? Just spend a little now for the cobra hubs, and never worry about getting your next set or rotors re-drilled.

Or I could just order the KVR rotors and not worry about having rotors drilled, I would go all KVR but the Cobra calipers are cooler and cheaper.
But first I have to get my wheels first, thanks for the info Reaper.

If you want to keep the stock 16 inch wheels, check out Powerslot slotted cryo treated rotors and Hawk pads. I have put 26,000 miles on my Mark in 3 years and am on my third set of brakes. The Powerslots are great and so far feel like the last set I will need for a long time. The stock rotors are 10.9 inch off of a Ford Taurus. My friend has a VW R32, based on a Golf, small car,and it has 13.5 inch front rotors, what was Ford thinking! Stay away from cross-drilled stock size fronts, too much material is removed from a too small rotor to start with. Also, don't use EBC pads, they are not semi-metallic and do not soak up rotor heat, so the rotors will warp. Lots of fun stopping from 70 mph and the steering wheel wants to break your wrists!

For everyone's information.....

Bryan aka "monstermark" owns a cryogenic treatment company. Give him a shout when your ready to do something like this.
