Here's a simple pictorial from my adventures in brake pad changing this weekend. I did purchase the caliper paint, but it was too cold to use it. So, it will have to wait. The thread on how to change wiper blades will be coming soon . . .
I started with the fronts and of course destroyed a couple of lugs so make sure you have something else handy to use
I removed the bottom bolt on the front caliper, but of course there isn't enough clearance on the top bolt for my socket
Luckily the caliper can just swing up out of the way.
Two C-clamps push the pistons back in to make room for the new pads
Yeah, I definitely needed new pads. Not down to the metal yet, but getting close
I grease up the back of the new pads with high-temp grease. Supposedly it helps keep the squeaking down. I have no idea if it actually works, but it makes me feel better so I do it anyway.
The new pads in place
Put it all back together and the fronts are done. Not counting the destroyed lugs it only takes a few minutes per side. I have the advancetrac warning so I checked the wheel speed sensors to make sure they are in place and they were. I have also purchased the Chrysler Sebring lug nuts to replace the LS OEMs. I've also learned that if I put the lug wrench on the nut and then tap it a few times with the hammer it helps reduce the carnage.
The rear is very similar, take the wheel off. Take the caliper off.
I got the tool from autozone
The H014 disk is the correct size. Here's a crappy pic of it.
And after much turning and cursing here is my opinion of rear brakes
Finally, I grease up the pads and put it all back together again
Thanks to the forum for supplying the part number for the Sebring lug nuts. I bought all 10 at the local parts shop. I will be getting another 10 from the internet. I forgot to mention that all of the wheel speed sensors appear to be in place. I'll have to do some more messing with it to fix that issue.
