Brake Pads: R1 Concepts

a drilled/slotted rotor wont do anything for you unless you are on a road course or constantly beating the :q:q:q:q out of it for decently long periods of time.

I installed both their pads and rotors a little over a week ago. I can't give you a fair review because the only thing I have to compare them with are the old worn-out pads I replaced.

It suffices to say, they stop the car. I have no complaints.

in!

i'm going to buy a front + rear wheel kit for my car. for what its worth, i've done the research on r1concepts and i haven't heard one bad thing about them. they are Made in USA parts and they are available for cheaper than regular-style replacements!

you'd think most people would complain about warping, squeaking, shaking in the steering wheel, but nope, i haven't heard a thing.

Ya Sean I was checking your post from a while ago and saw everyone raving over them. What you said about price is true also, cheaper than a set of Bendix premium rotors from a national chain store.

yep, they are also stock size, so they go well with our 16" wheels. now i need a set of nice red calipers.

Why waste you time and money? Just hit up NAPA auto for their Gold rotors and pads. I just got a whole set for $125 in NH.

I put R1s on back in early May and have 6-7K on them now. I do a lot of hard driving and I love them. Don't forget to add anti-squeak lube to the pads!

I have them On my wife car , and not yet on my car ..... my wife car stops some what better

I have both the drilled and slotted rotors and pads on mine. Minimal brake dust, no noise. You cant ask for much more. Can't beat the price either. Autozone wanted $90 a piece for the front rotors alone, I did my whole system for less than $250. Nothing looks better then drilled and slotted rotters either, exept a cobra brake set up.

All the feedback sounds great, exactly what I was hoping for...

Do these rotor's not rust like normal rotors? Like in between the two plates and on the hat?

I think I'm going to paint my calipers/brackets a nice black for that extra clean look.

I dont think they rust .... but what do I know about rust here in Ca

Just FYI - drilled/slotted rotors don't perform better than blanks, and are more prone to cracking under severe use. Further, they typically can't be turned - only replaced.

However, they do look neato. :D

Carry on.

Edit... 17" or larger wheels required.

What do they do as far as the ABS ring on the front rotor? Do you have to use your old one or do they come with one?

The ABS ring is on the hub, not the rotor.

JP, What year cobra did you get those calipers from? What all did you have to do to get them on? Why wont the 16" work?

These are typical Cobra 13" brakes. The 16 inch stock wheels will not clear the larger brakes.

This mod was done by the previous owner of my '96.

the r1 concepts brakes work with 16" wheels. i need calipers that do the 16" wheels too, cause I put the stockers on in the winter.
