I changed my front pads and rotors yesterday. When I took the pads off of the driver side they were down to the metal. On the passenger side they had a little over half an inch left. What causes the uneven wear and is it common?
Thanks

Hopefully you cleaned and lubed the slides and pins. What happens most of the time is dirt and grit jam up the slides and the caliper cannot retract. On some occasions the piston gets stuck and then the cal needs to be replaced or rebuilt.

Max is completly right. And out of 100 brake jobs I do I see uneven wear from lack of lubrication on 65-70 of them. Pads last alot longer then they used to with newer technology and the slide pins suffer because of it. Make sure and use a good synthetic lube and this will not be an issue.

Have the same problem, but my slide pins slide nicely. Drivers side is worn much more than passenger. If one side was braking harder than the other, it would pull under braking. Their has to be more to this.

Pistons also move freely.

Have you also checked your rears, as you know with ABS the wheels are on the same line in a cross vehicle direction. A sticking rear could cause an premature front wear.

brake pulls/uneven wear could be caused by: stuck pads (lack of lubrication) stuck caliper, stuck caliper slides, collapsed brake hose (open bleeder and see if fluid sprays out under pressure) and thats about it
