Havent seen one of these threads in awhile so what does everyone like?

I think my current pads are glazed over (squealing like hell) so ive been looking at raybestos or Hawk HPS.

I got the pads from the rotorpros deal but they were only temporary anyways. And yes im pretty sure the calipers are good and nothing is sticking but i will be getting four new powdercoated calipers in the near future as well.

I have used duralast pads before and they are very good for the money but if the hawks will improve my stopping ill get them instead.
 
Glazing won't cause squeal. A bad friction material compound, lessening of the weight of the pad with wear altering pad harmonics, changes in the thickness of the pad altering flexibility and harmonics, degradation of the poor quality noise insulators used on aftermarket pads, wearing away of chamfers that prevent pad crossing of the rotor nodes, decreases in the amount of slipperiness of the end tabs or contact area between the caliper finger or pistons, changes to the harmonics of the rotor due to oxidation, etc will cause noise during the life of a pad.

The Hawk pads (a competitor of the company I worked for) are a good pad and have a higher COF. I'm on my second set for my wife's LS. They can develop a little noise, but during the wear life of the first set it was minimal. So far for the second set as well. After 60k miles I changed out the first set and both the front and rear noise insulators were just rust, typical of aftermarket. But the pads still were relatively quiet with only a little noise during cold low speed light applications. A few brake applications and we never noised any noise.
 
I went through a couple of front brake pads and found that I was happy with stock Ford Motorcraft brake pads with hardware kit....maybe factory hardware kit with aftermarket pads?
 
i used porterfields on my last LS, made a huge improvement over what was on it (the brakes where in need of changing however) just went with the rotorpros this time around because i wanted the SS lines. been so long, couldn't really how big of a difference between the two.
 
I changed mine a few months ago. Just went with duralast, along with new rotors. I think I went with ceramic, can't remember. I've been very happy with them so far, no noise. I did the bed in procedure I found floating around here somewhere. On the few occasions that I've needed to do some hard breaking I've been satisfied. However I don't track the vehicle so can't really speak to much about performance.

How much more expensive is the Hawk set over a premium set of duralast?
 
I've been really happy with my Duralast Cmax Golds.

I just installed Wagner ThermoQuiets Ceramics on my fronts, im happy thus far. I went searching on this forum for break pad preferences also, and from what i read really only EBC red stuff were not suggested, and there were mixed reviews on posi-quiets. I had wagners in mind, saw a couple guys ran wagner with no complaints so i went with it.
 
I know I belong on the other side buuuut...... I went with Performance Friction from O'riellys. I get an employee discount or else I wouldn't have went with them. They are elite. I like them allot. I'm trying not to use them much seeing that I just got my new drilled and slotted rotors in. Once all is broken in, I'll be sure to really test them out.
 
I had Posi-Quiets initially and they were ok. They tend to get a little groan when you are just about stopped. Other then that they seemed to work well for a daily driver pad. Not any better on dusting then the stockers.

I switched over to Akebono Euros for a more aggressive pad and they are good. Definitely not the cheapest option. I would probably have stuck with the Posi-Quiets for regular driving.
 
cmax golds. Bring them back when they're worn out and get a new pair free... No brainer. already did this once.
 
I've had Posi-quiet ceramics for the past few years. Decent performance and very little dust... or the dust that does develop is light in color.

Well the hawk pads are $160 for all four corners.

From what im reading it sounds like duralast golds are the way to go.
 
Yeah but i have cermaics right now and they are noisy. Maybe theyre just crappy pads though. Posi-Quiet.
