Ok, my abs light has been on for a couple weeks now. Does anyone know how to pull codes. ITs a 96, with the abs plug in the right front core support area.

Don't know if this problem is related, but today I went to replace the rear pads because they were down to a 16th. I also wanted to install some speed bleaders. Well, 5.5 hrs later, I have the pads on but no brakes. I tried bleading with the speed bleeders, but couldn't get any real fluid flow. So I re-installed the original bleeders screws and used my mytivac to self bleed. Still, I couldn't get any real solid fluid flow. I went thru 3 14.5oz cans of brake fluid, and I have really weak brake force. What gives? I do remember hearing some chugging, coming from the abs module area while doing the left front caliper. The fluid was also chugging.

If you drained the master then you have air in the ABS system and need to bring it someplace that has the ABS gizmo.

Now I will get crap for this but I let mine drain too far too when upgrading. Fortunatly I have an Apex pressure bleeder kit and all I had to do was pressurize to 12psi and then cycle the key a few times and presto, all was good.

Also make soure you aligne the rear pistons correctly when you put them back together.... also I hope you used the right tool to turn the piston back in the caliper.

Pistons were aligned, and I turned them in properly. Is there something else I should know about the rear calipers?

P.S. Where did you buy your pressure kit? I may just get one of those seeing as how I have 4 cars.... :D

Apex Performance. Lost the link with my old hard drive. :(
I think it was around $50. They also sell their own Apex blue brake fluid and I tell ya its some awesom stuff! I have overheated and cracked four rotors already and the fluid never boiled or got hot enough to change pedal feel. :)

Just wanted to update my thread.

I purchased a pressure bleeder from motive products. Of course today I go to bleed the system, and after pressurizing the system to 15psi, I see fluid dripping at a fast rate from the front bumper cover. After further investigation, it seems there is a leak between the abs motor/pump assembly, and the valve block. I'm pretty sure there is a gasket there. I put a call in to max today, but he went home early. Hopefully he will call me back tomorrow.

I may have to get a used one, but definately not a new one. Have you seen the prices!! I'm also contemplating just pulling all of it out and just fabricating some adapter lines.

What? They are only $850 after the core.

Good freakin night. Had I known they were worth that much I would have pulled mine from the 97 before I junked it. :(

Actually, I haven't found a price on a unit for traction control equipped vehicles. The price you quote is for non traction control equpped vehicles. Plus, they are remanufactured. Not new.

Told ya not to junk it yet...ass
