My brakes in my 93 are extremely hard for 2 seconds of brake pressure than the pedal goes down to normal pressure. Some noise is coming from the pedal area, sounding like air, but that might be normal and i am jut lookin at everything.Stop and go traffic sucks right now.
If someone had experienced with this it would help.I never had brake problems like this before.

if there is hissing from the pedal area, then your booster is shot, does it change pitch/quiet with pedal movement?

Oooh... This all sounds very familiar. Before you decide the booster is shot, check there are no vacuum leaks around the booster area. Check that the master cylinder is tight and sealing properly against the booster and make sure that the check valve is functioning correctly and the seal is good. If you want a booster for FREE i have one! I replaced mine thinking it was the booster and it turned out to be a missing master cylinder seal! Lol. :)

thanks for the response guys. The sound is a hissing sound from around the pedal area.It hisses when the brake is hard then goes away when the pedal depresses normal.BUT i will check out the master cylinder and others. Also thanks for the offer for the extra booster but i know of a parts car where i live ----in Canada

MYTURN. Blue on Blue is right. It is most likely NOT your brake booster. I had the EXACT same problem. It is your brake check valve. It's a little plastic thing plugged in at the firewall right next to the brake booster, and it's about $4.00 at Autozone in the Motormite section. Should take you nine and a half seconds to fix. :)

(I also have a Blue on Blue 93 Mark.)
