Brake booster

On a 96, what's the black can shaped thing on the brake booster with a 2 wire connector on it used for? I couldn't find anything in my service manuals on it...just curious...

Brake pedal travel sensor. It used to also check for brake failure. If tripped you will get a brake light, but the pedal has to travel pretty far - as in too the floor.

It's a stupid sensor... if you don't know that something is wrong by that point you shouldn't be driving a car
