Bought a 2000 LS8 today. Really like the car, but as usual I think I jumped without looking. Not to worried about that, I was stressing a bit on the drive home.

First thing I noticed, when I went to unlock the car at the gas station with the key fob was all the windows rolled down. I read a post earlier today on this forum about that, so I wasnt to stressed. weird electical problem, I've had worse. Got home and showed my friend the gremlin, and now the windows roll down right after I roll them up. over and over. and over. started to freak out, left the windows down and went back inside. popped the fob apart, and the contacts looked a bit corroded. Cleaned them off, and the windows go up. big relief, no gremlin there.

And I think my thermostat is stuck open. below zero here tonight, drove the 50 miles home and the gauge slowly crept down to the last tick. Probably jsut stick a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator till I can find a warm garage to work in.

I really like this car, and these forums. Forums probably pushed me over the the edge to buy the thing.

sounds like the unlock stuck "on" on the fob. you know windows down is a feature of the LS by holding the unlock down. put the key in the door and hold it in the lock position and it rolls back up.

i'm sure you knew it, but if not, thats why.

Congrats!

You gonna like this car. Always come back here for repair advice.

We usually have the answer!

LVC has claimed another.....dont fret the minor problems. Cause when the LS is working top notch you wont want another car:)

Welcome.

If your LS didn't come with the Owners Manual you can down load it from the TECH ARTICLES at the top of the page next to SEARCH, that way you can learn about all the features and there use.

welcome! These forums have saved me so much money and time.. Invaluable info here

Yup, one day and I love this car. At first I was wishing that it was summer so I could drive the hell out it, but its a blast in the show. I was thinking that I should really get studs on it (studded tires are standard here), but the allseasons on it make every corner fun. Been driving around all night when I should have been reading the owners manual.

Question about the traction control, when you have one tire that wont get any traction, and the differential is just spinning that tire while the other one sits, does the traction control brake that one wheel and let the other get some power to the ground? I just got stuck in my driveway purposely sliding around a corner and didn't think to test this when I was digging myself out. Only time the traction control seems to do anything is when I'm doing something stupid, and always a second after I notice my tires spinning. The ditch is plenty of motivation for me to not drive stupid.

the traction control when stuck should probably be turned off. It plays with the brakes and the engine power to try and correct the slippage. Its realaly nice when your cruising along and all of a sudden lose it. but from a stop i shut it off allmost all the time in winter.

enjoy your new car man!
