Hi....I've had a Lincoln LS since last Nov. now....I love the car and all....It's what got me introduced to luxory and sport....But what i was wondering is if a BMW M3 2002 would be worth trading off my Lincoln LS8 2001 for....Figured somebody here could help me...if not thx anyways for reading

I am considering moving to an M BMW. All cars have problems but my 5 years of experience with this car has really opened my eyes to just how bad some cars are built and supported by manufacturer.

I say go for it.

That's not really very comforting news to a potential buyer. What year do you have, and what sorts of problems have you encountered thus far?

I love my LS. However, if I had to choose between an M3 or the LS I'd choose the M3. Of course that would be if the price was the same for the M3 and LS. I doubt very seriously you'll find an 2002 M3 the same price as a 2001 LS.

I'll be ready to buy another car in a couple of years and if Lincoln doesn't make a 2007 or 2008 LS then I'll move to the BMW at that time. I've had some problems early on with my LS but it wasn't nothing worth losing sleep over. All cars have problems but it's how you cope with the problems. I'm sure the M3 has issues but I would venture to guess that the repair bill on the M3 would be much higher than that of the LS.

I'd say drive both and see which one you like.

:) :) :) You need to do a search for posts by El Es. I think he has had about every repair done that we all dread having to do. :) Oh...except rebuilding the rear end, but I covered that one on my car.

the LS at $44k was much more value than a 3-series. the M was alot more $$$$ - not really a fair comparison. the current M at 333hp is starting to show it's age and their forums are full of the same complaints about needing more hp. the new V8 version will solve that but still be more $$$$.

I've been wanting to test drive an M3...But being 20 years old, it's hard to pull up to a dealership and have them look at you like your a serious buyer.

Have fun with that move, had that problem when I wanted to look at a 02 Jaguar XJ-8 about a year and a half ago. I had the last laugh cause not to long after that they sponsered a concours and I had my 67 E-Type there and I told the sales manager about my run in. Needless to say he was embrassed and apolgized numerous times. Oh yeah I won Best British Car there also! HAHA Go for it if no luck have a chat with a manager. Be polite, that always kills them.

Good Luck!

This is tough because both cars are used and will eventually need service. I used to have a 98 325i and that baby was expensive for almost any kind of repair. For looks and reliability I would go with the BMW (just barely), but if being able to maintain the vehicle will be an issue then i would say stay with the lincoln.

If I were you I would trade off your 2001 LS for a 2004 or later, that is if you really like/enjoy your LS. Ive owned and driven more cars than you can imagine and really luv my LS. 2004 V8 Ultimate. Dont sell out!! :Beer

both of these cars are in 2 different classes. i do not even have to answer this one. ::cough M3 cough::

I think it is best stated in dollars. I have 16k dollars in work orders here for one 2000 LS V6. Approximately 11k of that is in warranty work the rest is out of pocket. I'd like to think that the fact that I kept the car demostrates that I handled the problem well.

There no escaping problems when you own a car but a person can endure only so much BS before they tap the mat. I figure that I am about 1 year away from buying a new car but I have long parted way with my love with Ford MoCo as the manufacturer of my next vehicle. It could be that I am just ready for a new set of problems or it could be ford fatigue.

yeah thanks for taking that one for me. Lord knows I needed the relief. :)

They are in two different classes and price ranges! If you want a fast, great driving car, get an M3. For the money, the LS V8 is a great driving car.

Glad I could help. Did you have something new happen to your car that I don't know about?? You were really up on keeping the car a few weeks ago. Just curious. It could be the heat wave too maybe??? :) I have been saving my pennies and still considering a new Mustang. I have never purchased a new car before, but I can get a good deal through A or X plan from a relative. I should be able to swing a GT for about $24k. The used ones around here are going for about $30k. Getting another car that is $$$$$ to repair is not for me. I learned my lesson the first time. Stick with something more simple. Of course, the Mustang is not as simple now either, but I don't think I am going to try an M3 myself.
