Finally got a chance to work on the Mark Viii this weekend. Friday morning i did the Ford racing Trac-Lok/ 4.10's install. I did it on the ground with a jack and jack stands. Not recommended, i would find a lift!! haha. but got it all done and it runs great!
Saturday morning i Pulled off the old Intake Manifold and put on the Shortened runner Cobra intake manifold. Ran into a TON of problems and had to fabricate ALOT of things, but we got it to work. Ill get some pictures, its not the prettiest thing right now but it got me home. (used the stock intake tube, just cut it and taped it back together.)haha but the install with the custom fab, 2 guys, doing everything from completely cleaning the imrc's to porting out the throttle body and knife edging the butterfly valves took around 14 hours. we had a few brakes in between but it is not an easy task.
I used the stock intake tube, stock fuel rails, capped off the egr, had to custom fit where the fpr was hitting the upper intake cover, lengthen the TPS wires, the bracket for the cable is still not clear to me what i needed to do, i just made it work with the throttle cable and left the cruse off, ill try to fab up something i guess, and a few other B.S. things but its done
Would I recommend the 98 cobra intake manifold.???
Definately, i noticed a HUGE gain in top end. its not even dynotuned yet and it was a definate power increase!!!mine has the shortened runners and to my knowledge i am the only one to ever attempt this on a Mark VIII. It runs very good.!!!
Dyno Tune at Logan Motorsports is hopefully next weekend! Pics will be following shortly
