Trans flush and rear diff are next.. Can anyone recommend a good Mercon V? I'm looking at a few options right now: Motorcraft Castrol Transmax Supertech Which of these are full synthetic, and is running it any better? I am staying away from Valvoline because I cannot get clear information on their mercon v licensing and compatibility.
I believe mercon v specs require it to be a synthetic blend, I have yet to find a full synthetic mercon v besides mobil 1 atf. Maybe I'm overthinking it, maybe it's all marketing & semantics. What do you use in your transmission joe?
Can't go wrong when you use the Motorcraft Mercon V considering that was what was used in it from the factory.
Motorcraft... at recommended change intervals. Mobil One Mercon, (not 5), was a good choice for my 95 F150... for 175k of its 225k miles... but for the money... and a deep pan (17 quarts total), is very expensive.
