For the past couple days I've been hearing some squeaking noises coming from the hood when i turn the wheel to the extreme left or right. It doesn't happen all the time. What do I look for first before I spend more money to get a mechanic to look at it?

Does it happen when you first start it up in the mornings? What is the temp outside?

This. what does this mean. Mine is starting to do that.

Usually that it is time for a new belt and belt tensioner, but sometimes it also means you have a small coolant leak from the plastic parts at the front of the engine.

Just happens randomly. When it happened it was about ~35-40F outside.

If its never been replaced before, replace it.

If it has, see if anything got on it like coolant.

What you're looking for is dry white or yellow spots splattered about, and/or greasy/slimy stuff.

had a look today, saw nothing that seems to be leaky other than the semi-leaking VCG. I did see a couple dry white spots that seems to have been there for ages. (Baked into the metal).
