Hi!

I own a LS v8 2001.

Now i got my ACCEL COPS but before installing them I notice there are some kind of oil near the valve cover passenger side,I don't have idea where does it come from.

So after taking off the cover and worried to find oily Coils on plugs there was nothing, then I check the sparks plugs and they were dry, just dirt around.

*The nut came off^from the cover  reading about it ,looks like some glue could solve that.

--Where does the oil come from ?

any tip ?

Best regards!

It looks like the oil is coming from somewhere above the coil covers. It could be a leak from the valve cover gasket on the top edge, or it could be from some PCV plumbing in that area. (I don't remember if gen I has any plumbing there.)

Ty joegr!!

As you said it looks above the cover.

This hose connector looks wet and it seems the leak source.

How it's called??

I believe that's called "hose, connecting." Part number XW4Z-6758-AA. You may not need the hose, you may be able to clean it up and reseal it. Alternately, the issue could be with the port on the valve cover. Either way, it looks like it's more of an annoyance than a real problem.
I think that is is the air supply to the PCV system.

When you pop that connector off, you'll see (or should see) an orange o-ring seal around the male portion of the connector that goes into the valve cover part. If you don't see the o-ring, or if it's mangled or deformed, that's probably your problem. If you've never disconnected that hose connector before, then be aware that it should resist coming out even when you've squeezed the locking tabs. Gently rotate it back and forth (clockwise-counterclockwise) to wiggle it out. Also be careful with the plastic hose itself. If you disconnect the connector too quickly or suddenly, the hose itself is likely to break into a thousand tiny shards (voice of experience, unfortunately). If the connector comes out too easily, that may also be an indicator that the seal has failed.

I had to replace one of these seals on one of the smaller connectors on the TB, and was able to find a suitable one in one of those Dorman-brand variety packs you can get at AutoZone. If you do have to replace it, I'd suggest putting a drop or two of motor oil on the new seal and spreading it around with your finger, then be extra careful to make sure you reinsert the connector as straight as possible so as not to pinch or crimp the o-ring.

On those Accel COPs, are they LS-specific or are they the Mustang ones? There's a wiring cross that has to be made when using Accel coils or they don't work right. Putting this out so you can investigate before installing.

Thank you for reply!

I'll feedback as soon as possible.

*accel cops for mustang.
*Waiting to fix this to install new ones.

You are going to reverse the polarity of the coil connectors, right?

Reverse the pins in the connector. Either pull the pins out by removing the red retainer or by cutting the wires and soldering them back together in reverse with heat shrink.

I just turned 1 year with my Accels with no problems. Only about 6k miles though. Most of my plugs were over gapped around .045-.050 and I've only gotten around to regapping 4 of them down to .040.

Yes I'll swap the wires as described on " The Only Coil Thread Needed. Design, Common Issues, Replacement, & MORE Included"

I'm going to clean it and inspect the O'ring.

ty !

Hi!

After cleaning I think that the oil leak source may be the other hose, the bigger one, it has the locking tabs broken and it looks oily too.

The O'Rings look good on both hoses.

There's an apparent leak on the drivers side, the hose port is cracked and looks like it had a cheap fix with silicone, what a surprise :slam .

The oil cap is cracked on base ,silicone fix seen :(.

there are many fixes to do.:eek2:

**Below the belt , near the oil filter looks wet , is there another hose near ?
valve cover gasket ?

thank you !!

That seems like a lot of oil in the intake. How many miles? It looks like you have a leak at the oil filter adapter. It could be the seals to the engine, or the seal between the adapter and the oil cooler. I would change both. Also, I was wrong the passenger side is the suction hose, and the driver's side is the supply hose (Still, the part number I gave is correct).

Hi!

Thank you !

It has 105,000 miles.

After a little trip ,the hoses keep clean and tight.

I'm going to buy those seals you named after getting the right part number.

-oil adapter/oil cooler Seal (gasket between the adapter and the cooler)
-XW4Z-6840-AA (gasket between engine and adapter) thnks joegr
-XW4Z-6758-AA (hose, connecting)

Best regards!! :Beer

XW4Z-6840-AA (gasket between engine and adapter) and I'm having trouble finding the gasket between the adapter and the cooler.

Three guesses and the first two don't count!

About those accel cops which ones did you get I'm looking into changing mine because I fear one is going out but I've heard of a few people using these but was wondering which ones to get
