My battery is shot. I have an optima from my Camaro which should work and fits ok. The original battery had 650 cca and the optima has 800. However, it does not have a vent. Does it matter? Ideas on an Optima in the trunk?

You will need a vented battery. Or, rig up a vent system for the Optima. The CCAs aren't an issue as they exceed the factory spec.

Yikes, you guys are scaring me. Can I drive it for a day or two with the un-vented optima until I can go get a new vented battery?

That should be fine. The battery only gases when it's being charged, i.e. when you're driving. As long as the car lives in a garage over night I would just crack the deck lid after you've driven it. That should allow any built up gas to be expelled.

don't be scared - I've heard people have crashed their LS's into poles to prove that a non-vented battery would not explode (not really the point but funny never the less).
