Battery drain

The other day when I went out to my car in the morning, the drivers side easy entry functioned when I opened the door, even though I had it turned off. The car started up just fine. The seat settings were the only thing that changed.

When I went to work (Carquest) I checked the battery with a tester and it showed a low charge (25%) but it said that battery was good. Then I checked the charging system with the tester and it said that I may have a battery drain with the car off.

So, we rig up a bulb to a holder and wire it in series with the negative side of the battery with the car off. It lights up just fine. This tells us that we have a significant battery drain.

Has anyone seen bad battery drains like this before? Aftermarket wiring is not a factor here, I disconnected the few things that may have caused it that arent factory.

[i had this problem with my car a 94mk8 very recently... check all ur lights and stereo connections and under the hood for noticible shorts just to cancel the small stuff out... otherwise take a meter and check the alternator with the car running should be between 13.8- 14.6 mine was at 12 something just running off of the battery which drained it. Also on the dash the computer told me the charging system was fine when it really wasnt!

I had an issue with my ABS system running with the engine off and key removed. It was a while before I noticed the noise coming from the front left fenderwell of the car and investigated. It kept draining the battery and frustrating me (I have a 200 amp alternator). I popped the hood and yanked the ABS pump's fuse 'till I could fix the problem.

One of many possibilies...remote but possible.
