Does anyone know why when the subs and amps are on why the water temp gauge goes sky high like its going to overheat? When the speakers are on give it about a 1/2 hour or so then the temp gauge goes up and and then on the message center says high temp or something like that. i forgot exactly what it said. It acts like it wants to overheat. As soon as you turn the radio down then the gauge drops down pretty quick.

Other than that the body work is almost finished and getting ready to be painted. I should have it out in Harrisburg with me in a couple of weeks. i have no pics of it yet cause the cars in Pittsburgh and im in harrisburg. When I get the car ill try and get some pics of it. When i get the car ill end up getting the exhaust done for Carlisle hopefully.

Does the car actually get hot, or is it just a fluke?

From the manual...

The Coolant Temperature Sender determines current flow through the Temperature Gauge winding. With low coolant temperature, Sender resistance is high (about 74 ohms) and current flow is low. The needle points to "C." As coolant temperature increases, Sender resistance decreases (to about 10 ohms with a very hot engine) and current flow increases. The needle moves toward "H."

The message center uses this sending unit as well to trigger the "Check Engine Temp" warning.

It appears it could be a ground problem. I would have the grounds to the amps checked carefully as well as any possible wire chafing which could be sending a voltage differential to the chassis ground, even the speaker wiring.

I had a cooling fan bypass control unit that went bad and was wreaking havoc with voltage across to ground.

im not sure if its running hot or not i never did check when i got home from driving it the one day. thanks driller ill have to check that out when i get the car out here to me.
