Hi guys, first post here. Did the good olé google but I couldn't just figure out how to word a search just right to get some good info.

I also know the LS can be known for electrical problems so while doing my search I came across this site and figured it would help to just ask some of you guys.

OK, my LS is a 2000 V8. I didn't use it much over the winter but I had started it up and let it run for a half hour or so. All of sudden I went out to start 'er up and I had no power. Well I had some but it was dim then when I turned the key I could hear a clicking under the hood but it was not cranking at all just a tick form the right side and a faster click I think from the left side.

I hooked up cables to give it a jump and I got more power but still nothing but a ticking noise and the needles were acting very funny. They were going from the left to the right about 2 or 3 times then they staled out in the middle of the gauge.

I had a bad relay before but it was visibly damaged, it actually had a hole blown into it. Now they all visually appear to be in working order. I gave it a shot again today and this time it does seem as if the battery could have a problem. I get no sparks if I tap the cables together and I get no response from any instruments inside, no lights when I press the key fob buttons, no horn, no nothing.

How can I tell if a relay is bad? I am going to pull the battery out today and give it a test but we have so many relays in the trunk and under the hood how do I know or actually how do I tell if one is shot so I know what one to replace if the battery is good?

Thanks for every one that gives a bit of help:)

Thanks, the battery is a 4 month old Motor Craft.

Im off to have it tested now at the Auto parts store so I will see what it is. I can report back afterwards to let you guys now if further help is needed.

i bought my battery in oct, and i tested it this past weekend and it tested as a bad cell. im curious how good the motorcraft batteries are

Test came out with a dead battery:mad: . Ok now this thing is very young for a battery so does anyone think something could be wrong with something else that could cause it to die? It was low enough that they said it wont hold a charge. I doubt its the Alt but I think after I get the new battery ( it has a 36 month warranty ) if it turns over I will have the Alternatror tested before I shut it down and if that comes up clean I hate to ask for advice from a part time Auto Zone high school students so can anyone give suggestions on what else to look for?

Thanks everyone!

well as i was walking into the dealership, i saw another ls with the trunk open and the battery pulled out. my battery tested bad, and he said that there have been alot of batteries from the ls's testing bad lately. he was also wondering if there was a bad batch from ford
