bad gas mileage

Can anybody help me? I have 02 V8 that is getting horible gas mileage. I have a CAI and an exhaust but I shouldn't be getting this bad of gas mileage.
The car says I'm only getting 13.5 average and I haven't been driving like a jacka$$. Any suggestions?

If it makes you feel better my 05 V8 is reading 11.8mpg

I have stock wheels on it. Would the fuel filter effect it that bad?

It seems to be running fine when I step on it it goes no problem.

First thing I would check is the MAF sensor. You can buy the special cleaner at any auto parts store. It won't hurt to clean it even if that isn't your problem, just read the directions and make sure that the sensor is good and dry before you put it back together.

could be a number of many things, fuel filter clogged, bad coils, blocked cat., ...

Im betting more on the bad cat.. mine started to get bad and eventuality the cel came on for bad cats..

Also clean out your throttle body while doing this with the cleaner and a tooth brush.

I believe the OM warns against cleaning the throttle body, although I can't find it now. I know there is a warning label on the TB.

Yes, you have to use a "throttle body safe" cleaner, and not scrub with anything abrasive.

Yes, normal carb cleaner will eat the metal away
