i want to hear some horror stories of auto zone: i'll give you a couple
bought some O2 sensors for my grand marquie went out three times; bought a fuel filter for my mark viii didn't fit didn't have one in stock

fuel filter napa gold 3300 wix product...NGK 02 sensors 22500...

I've avoided these horror stories by not going to Autozone... ever...

I only shop at Oreily's and I only buy from the two parts guys that actually know what they are doing.

The Autozone experience really depends on if you get a dumbass employee or a decent one, and if you know which parts to buy and which to avoid. Autozone and the other parts stores sell mostly the same stuff made by the same companies in the same factories. The Bosch O2 sensors I bought for my Mark VIII from Autozone is the same thing I'd buy anywhere else, the Timkin wheel bearings I just used in my Vic is the same thing I'd buy anywhere else. As far as house brands (Duralast, Valucraft,) stay away from anything Valucraft, but generally the Duralast stuff is as good as any rebuilt parts..

Autozone is good for simple things since its convenient. Going in with the part number you need ahead of time helps keep them from screwing up.

No complaints with my local Autozone. (only error they have made with me is not charging me for stuff!)

The older guys seem to be pretty knowledgeable.

My autozone has done well by me. Plus that whole spend over $20 5 times and get $20 credit... I like that; usually works out VERY well for me.

Oh yeah, and they have a 10% military discount... those two together=hard to beat!

I have been going to Vato-zone for years, and the old guy there has helped me a numberous amount of times, cross referencing parts for all of my frankenstien projects.

No horror stories here, It really depends on which Vato-zone you goto.

We have an O'RLLYs (O'Reillys) and its horrible so I travel to one 15 mi. away for things I need from there.

Sorry guys but I've never been in an Autozone that was staffed with someone who knew what they were doing.

Wal-Mart Automotive Rejects they hire. Also if you ever had the chance to speak to the Autozone executive at Autozone central they are not any smarter.

When at Autozone corporate they were trying to tell me that a Mark VIII came with 2 options for Tranny's and were set that the TC they sent me was the right one. Then the Tech that they transferred me to not in the Tranny dept. told me that Autozone was full of $#!+ and there was only one Tranny that came as an option for a Mark VIII..

Autozone Blows... I agree..

yup... just show your ID.

I can't tell you for sure that it's in EVERY autozone... but there are about 6 or 7 in the Lansing area and everyone of them have it. Also the autozone in Quincy IL... happened to be down there helping a friend with his mustang when we needed parts!

i never go to autozone because every autozone i've ever been to has a parking lot full of cavaliers and neons with graphics and fart cannons...and that's a majority of their customer base

i prefer not to go there, i get customers at work that come in saying "autozone said i need this part will you install it?"...........sure as long as you understand, if it fixes it or not your still paying! they usually say ok then get pissed when the new EGR valve doesnt clear the code and they need a $50 sensor, im sorry you listened to a idiot!

Eh, even if it's not nationwide, there is a 10% courtesy discount that employees can give out for whatever reason they feel like. So if they don't do the military discount, ask for that.
