yes - check the dimmer wheel under the light switch to make sure it isn't off.

i frequently dim the dash lights, dimmer wheel is not off. also the radio lights have never lit up since i've owned the car.
here is what the head unit looks like.
sticker from the car says am/fm cass premium sound
there is a 6 disc changer in the glovebox
its kind of wierd because the track and disc number display lights up, but the rest won't.

I had that problem when I took delivery of my car. The steering wheel controls also don't work right. It was the head unit.

same here..you mean the stereo controls on the steering wheel right. thats how it is for me, those controls kinda do what they want when they are pressed sometimes work sometimes don't and when i press track down on steering wheel it just goes up.

mine is exactly the same. must be something w. the cassette player headunits. Still havent figured it out, but i have the radio commited to memory so its not that bad.

You might have something there. I haven't had that problen since I installed the in-dash 6-disc changer.

i'm still uncertain about whether or not it should or shouldn't, i'm getting a double din in summer, so i would like for it to light up until then if possible. if you have the same OEM head unit and it lights up or doesn't...chime in

It is supposed to light!!!!!!

Think about it. Would it make sense for some to light and others not? How are you supposed to see the buttons at night if they don't light???

I have the same problem, when the car is cold and my mute control on steeering wheel will not work, but everthing else does. After the car warms up and I shut it off and restart.. works great???

I also notice if it is warmer then 40 deg I do not have this problem.

I am guessing it is a ground, since I installed the audio adapter (US-Spec) for my XM. When warms enough to remove plastic I will investigate.
