Asking a question for my father... electrical gremlins?

My father owns a '97 LSC. It's got around 90,000 miles on it. Recently, he's told me about the intermittent failures of some electrical components - namely, the fan blower, and the steering column. To sum it up:

- Climate control fan will occasionally not blow any air whatsoever.
- Steering column almost never telescopes (though it has once or twice) and tilt won't operate intermittently.

My dad seems to think it's related to the cold; for example, this morning, it was sub-30 degrees, and there was no fan when he took my brother to school. After hot shutoff, then a restart 5 minutes later, the fan worked. Same with the tilt.

Any ideas?

Thanks guys.

Check the plug on the blower, located behind the glove box, known to just be loose.

May be time for a steering column swap, mines telescope is intermittent at times too

I'll give that plug a look... hopefully I'll have a day off that doesn't also hold Arctic weather soon.

I'm guessing you don't believe there's anything tying these issues together? I know they're connections/parts that often go bad, I was just wondering if there was any relation.

No relation. The plug that Sapper speaks of is a very common issue. Wiggle the plug where it connects to the blower motor. The wire colors are orange and black. Remove the black cover under the glove box to gain access. Hope this helps. Good luck!
