Well Chicken where were you when I needed you LOL.. Thanks Unity for answering the phone LOL

Took my 95 to get the recall done today... about 1 hour after I had brought the car in I went to the serviced dept. to see what was happening. There was my car on the rack... Nobody working on it.

I entered the area and the tech came over and said ummm we don't know where the part is located...

I told him it's in the Passenger's side wheel well. He said it can't be it has to be on the driver's side near the master cylinder.. I said well that's where it's located on a 93 (which they did my 93 on Monday)...

So I said hey I'll find out fast... called chicken but he must not have been able to take the call.. Then I thought Unity would know and he'd may be able to take a call, and yes Unity came through and confirmed my suggestion that it was in the passenger's side wheel well.

So after I made sure he did the job right... the guy went to let down the lift. I was wondering if he was smart enough to have turned off the air ride. Well no he wasn't.. he goes hmmmm guess we have to let the air ride pump up. I said you don't have too if you turn the air ride off.

Oh where is it located... was his answer.. I said in the trunk.. he said he looked but couldn't find it.. I said it's right behind the access door.

Then he just sat there.. the Service Dept. Manager asked him if he started the car. He said doesn't it come up by itself...

Then he said well I'm not a Lincoln guy I'm a Ford guy.. He then made the comment that a Cadillac will pump up.. I just said I don't buy that crap..

The Service Manager then talked to me about how much he loved the Mark VIIIs when they had them.. and that they are one of the best cars he's ever been in.. Not sure if he was trying to save my opinion about their dealership.

perfect example of why no one touches my Mark unless I stand there watching them do whatever it is they are doing-in 7+ years of Mark ownership, the only things done to mine that I personally did not do was that recall (I watched) and new tires being installed-not the kind of car that an amateur or uneducated should be learning on, IMO. Good thing you were standing there, God knows what it would have been if you weren't.

Idiots.

Since this came up I will mention that when I had mine done they put the harness to the brake pedal travel sensor. LOL

The harness just happens to fit with the right ends. But I took it back from some other work and mentioned what was wrong. They corrected it. The tech had been previously fired.

I hear ya I am the same way.
But to all my stuff, every time I bring stuff in it always gets screwed up.

Hats off to unity

i took my 93 into the ford dealer today also to have the marker lights and headlights switched that got broken last week in my other post, i get it back over to my shop afterwards and remove the headlight access panels and the morons put nice brand new headlight clips in, too bad they didnt snap them down, the woman in the body shop says oh, they aimed the lights for you too, really? because you cant aim them if the clips arent snapped into the adjusters or the whole thing just spins i pulled all 6 clips off with my fingers, yeah but they aimed them for me lmao, bunch of inbred's

Well we I could have had this problem solved if they would have asked me an hour before they couldn't figure it out... But I bet they didn't want to feel stupid having to ask the owner where do I find the part.

And the same here I usually do my own work also...

I agree, I only take my car to the dealerships or to a local mom and pop shop that I'm familiar with. The dealerships are getting pretty crappy here lately. We drove half an hour to have an issue fixed on the Escape because the local dealership ran a service department but they didn't have a schedule. Who runs a service department without a schedule????

Unfortunately, dealers employ some good people whose reputation is marred by many more not-so-good people.

Even still, mine won't touch my car. I was BSing with the parts guys at my local L/M house about a 98CE they had parked there. Guy mentioned it needed an anti-theft transciever assembly which had been discontinued. I thought it was a shame, and a few phone calls later tracked one down for him through some of our awesome Ford parts guys. Brought the info to the local parts guys nicely written out on a card for him, and he WOULDN'T EVEN TOUCH THE CARD. It was as if I were offering him a severed hand. I was just trying to be helpful, but got yelled at for not possibly being the part in question because it was a Ford part and not a Motorcraft part and blah blah blah. Totally and completely classless.

i got kicked out of a ford dealership by the service manager and i know the owners very well and i have been in a garage for a long time but the service manager got pissed that i told him what i thought of him that day and that i knew something more than he did now every time i walk into the dealership he treats me like a king....still dont like the guy

i take mine to the Lincoln dealership, never had any problems with the three cars i have had serviced over the years. they even give me discounts on parts

Max in no way is this intended towards you .. just wanted to relay the fact that we do not feel this same way towards you... but then you are not the tech...

I'm guessing that in that same shop there were one or two guys who knew what they were doing. But they were working..

A few more tard moments... guy pulls out his screw gun.. battery dead, bitches because he had to use a screwdriver to take off the shroud... Damn 5 min and I'd have that damn thing off I rarely use the screw gun there.

Guy also bitched on the amount of time that the book gave him for doing the job. Well if he wasn't a retard I'd been out of there in a 1/2 hour or less instead of an hour and 1/2.

Another part if they would have paid attention on Monday they would have heard me tell them that the damn 93 is barried behind the master cylinder where as on my 94 and 95 it's located at the front passenger's side wheel well.

Is there any possible way for someone to find out "what" the upgraded loom actually is/does.

I'd rather spend 5-50 dollars and fix it myself rather than subject my car to the likes of "warranty/recall" techs.

I wonder if Max (great gazoo where are you??) sells the replacement harness.
Granted it's a recall item, but surely they would have to sell the part as well..

In fairness to the tech, how many of them does he really see in a week?
Or in a year? It's a 15 year old model, that sold in low volume, and there aren't too many of them up in the tundra.

And to make it worse, the 93 is different than the 95, that's different from the 96 that's different from the 97....

There are some absolutely incredible Ford techs, I know some. After they fix the Fusion, they'll pull in a Lamborghini for service.

And some that are little more than part changers.

Oh I know he's never seen one in his life.. guy was maybe 25.. but.. if you would have seen him work and listen to him you'd understand... This guy I bet shops at Autozone..

Well chicken thinks he's a good Ford Tech LOL

No, We are not all retards. But, chances are he had better things to do and was just saying that to get you out of his hair. Just saying. We have every resource available to find everything on your car.:D

Well he didn't.... and I would have been waiting another hour waiting for him to find the location.

I cant imagine him "not being able to locate the part". Just sounds weird for a paid tech...Shoulda drove up here to my dealer. We woulda done ya right.

I saw a wall of service manuals and asked if he had the computer manual. He said that Ford service was down?

I just wonder how long they would have left me wait before telling me that they couldn't find the location of the part.

I'm not saying that all Ford Techs are tards.. but then have you seen Chicken  LOL...

Like I said there were other guys working hard in the shop.. You should have seen him with his tools .... if those were his...

Well now you've really done it Rich. I had to take my Mark to my local Lincoln dealer today. They absolutely refused to work on it. When I asked why he pointed at my LVC decal. Seems the owner reads the Lincoln websites. Subsequently, after reading your posts, all LVC members are banned from getting service. What am I supposed to do now ? So, I swallowed my pride and took it to Autozone. They fixed it right up. .....................................lol

Holy bejeezus. Please tell me you are joking.

Hi all...
First... Rich no offence taken, there are a lot of guys that would never to think to ask another where the unit is located, let alone where the "tsb or recall" notice is. He should have said to the service dispatcher/manager "I have not done a Mark...where is the Recall notice" it is the same recall on all the othere vehicles and shows them all. That paper shows where the part is as well as the proper part number to replace for that particular vehicle. In my case if I do not know I ask, weather it be a p/n basic or service instructions. There are some real dolts out there with hammers and screwdrivers that dont know Jack!! and are too embarrased to ask.
Next..I think I can now sell the parts in question...they are different for different models and years so I would need that info to let you know $$.
That being said, If you bought that part for a recall then a notice could not be sent to ford to show it was done to fords satisfaction to protect them...yada yada yada...in case of a concern later with the newer part.
XLR ill try to see if they will release one for you but like I said above....
Thank you all for the kind words...

Max
