I have a 97 conti and just discovered my alternator (original) has a bad diode and will be replacing it this week. However, at around the same time these other issues have appeared.
Check Steering Assist warning comes up and I lose power steering (car has a new power steering pump, fluid levels are good)
A/C is blowing hot (About 2 months ago the car received a new A/C compressor, and reservoir as well as a complete flush of the system and fresh charge)
Transmission slips in second gear randomly and then when it downshifts picks the gear back up and is fine which happens usually in stop and go traffic (got a new transmission 2 years ago)
The alternator is still original on this bad boy so that's gonna get changed this week but are all these issues inter-related? Also where are some good places to purchase a good alternator at a decent price? I have H.I.Ds and a Sound System so I'm looking for something to handle those kinds of demands. Locally I've found 169.99 to be the lowest price
