I mentioned this in another thread but thought i'd start a new one dealing specifically with this topic. Last friday i became interested in trading in my LS for a SUV. The dealer only offered $8k for my LS, its a '05 Ultimate with every option except navigation. The dealers explanation is that V8 sedans arent bringing too much in the resale department these days, which i can kinda understand. So with that in mind there is no way i'd part with my LS for a lousy $8k.

I've seen new members on here recently and wonder what kinda retail price you guys have paid and what year/model LS, mileage?
 
thats pretty sad my LS is a 2000 and was listed for 11k, bought for 7,500 with trade in and negotiations, retail price KBB and w/e is out there was 10k.
 
There is another thread on here ..... Ebay 2006 LS sells for $12,100!! Granted the seller messed up on that one, but still. I hated the sharp decline in the value of the LS when they stopped making them.
 
Nobody knows what the LS is and it had a bad reliabilty reputation from the word go. I can't say that I'm surprised. Disappointed, but not surprised. In '04 my car was $40,000. 3 years later I paid $17,000 for it. I feel bad for those that bought the LS new and didn't keep it.
 
I was offered 10k for mine on a trade. And that was after me putting everything back to stock. I told the guy to have a nice life.
 
I paid 10 even for my 2000 v8 sport with less than 30,000 miles on it. It is in near perfect condition. An absolute steal in my opinion.
 
get mine for $6,000 - 200( i have no warranty on it so the dealership gave me 200 bucks back to fix my coil) = so i paid around $5,800 and its a 2001 with 101,059 miles..
 
Just because the cars are valuable to us doesn't mean they are to everyone else. This is a Lincoln enthusiast website so of course we love our Lincolns and wouldnt part with them for anything less than $xx,xxx.

No one wants an LS right now because it has a V8 which everyone dreads right now. That and the luxury segment it was meant to compete with pretty much trounced it into stopped production. There are honestly far better cars for the money out there but LvC obviously is biased toward Lincolns over those other cars. I was never offered more than $10,000 for mine and it was loaded to gills, with low miles.
 
The key thing the dealer pointed out was there isnt much of a resale for an LS right now, which on the flipside is why i would be getting a good deal on the Navigator. A trade in of $8k is actually less than i owe so that deal would never fly for me. A huge setback for me is the amount of miles i drive, i just flipped 87k miles on the LS, but i figure they'd give me $8k and try to sell it $11-12k, if it sits and they eventually lower it to $9-10k they still make some money.
 
Well since I bought mine because they depreciated so much in the first 3 years I can't complain if it's trade in value is low.
But then I tend to keep my cars for 8-10 years so I don't care about trade in.
Bought it in March 07 for $18k with 22k miles on the clock.
Love the V8 and the cost of gas is not a concern.
 
I just got mine back in late May, 2000 with 45k miles, V8 and it was 9k. The gas isn't as bad as everyone thinks, sure it's not getting the same miles as the smaller imports but it not like a Hummer either.
 
I just picked up a '05 LS V6 for 11K even. It has 45k miles, brand new tires, brakes and rotors on all 4 wheels. It is in mint condition.

I was looking for one with the V8 but they were quite a bit more.

I got this one from a Toyota dealer that was gonna send it to auction. They had it on the lot for 5 months but they said no one comes to a Toyota dealer to buy a Lincoln. It was a one owner trade in.

The window sticker said $17995 and it had a red tag saying $11995 bottom line price. Anyone looking to buy don't be afraid to throw out a price way below what they are asking.
 
i paid 15,500 for my 05 ls v6 pearl white with 18k miles. i thought i got a good deal. its in mint condition. guess not according to above post. i sold the old 96 lexus gs300 with 185k and bought rims with the 1800 i got for it. (spent 1300) for 19's rims with tires installed. i love my ls :D next mod: looking into painting the top exterior roof black... the back passenger window trim will still be white. it will look like a glass top, but won't be. i need a photoshop. hint! hint!
 
It's sort of a catch-22. When I bought the car I was happy for the depreciation. otherwise I wouldn't be driving it now. But then it's depressing knowing that you started out ahead on the loan and now you owe more than the car is worth. Maybe I'll just hang onto it. Who knows, in 30 years maybe it'll be a collector and appear on some TV show with a virtually unknown comic as a host!!
 
I traded in my '00 LS8 for $4000 (biggest mistake of my life). 95000 miles and the body was in better than average condition. Brand new tires, windshield, both front window regulators, coils, plugs, etc... They're not worth crap to anybody but us. 8 months later I'm looking to buy another one. Black on black Sport this time... However, it's the best time to buy them from private owners. I've been looking at '01 and '02 models with 60k-100k miles for between $5000 and $7000.
