I just got the front and rear bumpers repainted last week, and im considering having a clear bra installed on the front bumper to prevent future rock chips.

Does anyone have one installed?? Whats your opinion of them? What brand did u use? What part(s) is it installed on? Is it worth it??

To have one installed it is gonna cost as much as it would to have the bumper re-painted in the future (my auto body guy is a friend and hooks up the work for cheap). So im wondering if its even worth it. :shifty:

So, please chime in if you have one!

Im only considering the 3M scotchgard or the 3M Ventureshield products.
There are alot of other brands out there (possibly cheaper) but im skeptical of most of them. 3M has got great stuff.

Thanks in advance! :D

I have the 3M clear on my wife's MDX, and I had it on my old Accord. We drive in Colorado, and there can be a lot of gravel flying around in the winter.

It's applied on the front of the hood, covering the bottom 18-20 inches or so. it is not on the bumper.

I think the logic is the bumper will rebound somewhat and doesn't need as much chip protection.

Bottom line:
- compared to no coverage on the hood, it's night and day. I had two chips in the hood of my accord after driving it for 9 years, and they were on the 2 mm at the front lip of the hood the 3M didn't cover. The Acura has no chips whatsoever
- In the combined 16 years we've had the product on one car or another, they never discolored, bubbled or peeled

My LS doesn't have it applied (we bought it used, and I never got it in to get the work done), and has some chipping I would have like to avoid.

Personally, I want this on any car I will own, particularly if the front hood slopes dramatically

Link? I live on a gravel road and also tons of miles are put on my wife's new Fusion...she already has a small chip in the hood.
