anyone on here ever use BLizzak or similar tires?

I wanted to run them on my beater mark last year but cheaped out.... Now I have a bronco for winter duty the mark stays away during the winter.

Blizzacks are great for the 1st 55% of the tread, then they are regular rubber underneath...

I have them on the winter mark right now love them also had them on my old 84 crown vic back in the day they are a night and day difference

Dunlop Winter Sport M3's here with 360 lbs in the trunk in the winter. Go anywhere in any weather. Great 'V' rated  (149mph) winter-performance tire.

I drive around the middle part of the country so I run into rain, slush, snow and ice. The way these track thru water is what made me keep them on all year. When in rainstorms on the freeway running 80, you don't want the tire to lift when you run in the semi-truck trough in the right lane that will sometimes hold a couple inches of water. Hydro-planning at that point will tighten your sphincter. With the confidence of the tire in wet weather I decided to run them year round so I bought a second set figuring they would burn out pretty fast. Second season and the original tires are still almost new after 20,000 miles. I expect once worn past the softer outer layer, the tire will lose its grip. But so far I'm really happy.

On freeway ramps they are a little loose compared to a true summer performance-tire. Probably lose 2-3 mph in the curve.

But when I'm out in Wyoming, I can open it up and run away from all those crazy people like Frog that live out there. They don't call every stranger 'bubba' for nothin in Wy o min.

cool,thanks for the replies.

been looking at blizzak, Dunlop ds-3 and altimax arctics,

havent looked at the sport winter tires yet, like the m3's

I'm running Continental ExtremeWinterContact's on my car this year.
Being a former tire tech at BMW had it's perks, I've got to try out many different tires both summer and winter on different cars :)
