I had all eight coils replaced just before the warranty ran out and now the car is starting to chug-a-lug on me again. I am now at 91k miles, figured i'd use my 100k free coil replacement letter from Ford but its not throwing any codes yet. Last time it didnt take too long for it to go from chugging to full blown failsafe mode.

Has anyone had a Lincoln dealer honor that campaign without there being any codes or proof other than sh!tty mileage and a chugging car?

Well i got a orange flashing engine block thing on the dash today, might be close to getting an engine code, scanned it and nothing. Feels like its getting worse and more often.

I won't bring my car in unless there's a solid check engine light on the dash. I got the flashing one over the weekend on the way back from Georgia and the idle is horrible (feels like the engine is gonna fall out lol), so I'll just wait until the thing is totally dead this way they don't feed me any BS.

flashing check engine light (engine block on dash) IS a TYPE A Misfire... which means DAMAGE TO CAT CAN AND WILL OCCUR.... that flashing engine block is worse then a soild engine block...

with a Flashing check engine light you should have a Stored DTC...... And/Or a Pending DTC! that's what you want the dealer to look for...

Mine has no codes either. It flashed for about 20-30 sec. while stopping at a light, and hasnt been back on since. Still very noticable misfire and even though its cooled off outside i am only getting avg. 18 mpg..... should be around 20 mpg.

thats is so wierd... do you guys have the ability to check pending DTC's.... I know SCT you can't but i don't know about the scan gauge...

When mine was blinking i got the p030? in a pending DTC?????

that is really weird!

it doesnt really make sense...the blinking CEL is the worsed of all misfires (type A)... my car went in to ETC fail safe.. there should be a DTC...

Now that i think of it, ford puts there misfire monitor under none continuous.. thats probably why it didn't come up as a hard code, because the system wasn't being monitored at the time of misfire, thats why it went in to a limp mode... but no "hard" DTC

Sorry typing while thinking

Never went into fail safe, if that's what you're saying. Just really choppy idle and sputtering up hills while the the light was blinking (and even when it's not). I'll just wait until there's a solid CEL, so they can't say anything. If a cat goes, a cat goes - I'll just get an aftermarket one.

I just took mine to the dealer to have the VCG's replaced a couple of weeks ago, there wasn't any codes or misfires, i was just doing an oil change and figured since it would soon hit 100k i would check. sure enough, oil in almost every plug well (a couple where completly sumerged) took it in an told them what program to look for, and they covered it. they replaced all 8 plugs, coil boots, and both gaskets. they didnt replace any of the coils because they said that they all passed the stress test.
