Hey guys, i did several searches and came up with alot of post regarding sensor lowering, but nothing regarding reset..only one post which nothing was really answered.

I had a 93 mark, now a 96 LSC w/56k miles. I checked all the bags, no cracks or anything and everything functions great-as far as the air suspension is concerned, no sags etc. Even the height sensors look to be in great shape, no junk/rott in those areas. What i do notice is that the entire passenger side is about 1 inch higher then the drivers side. The drivers side sits normal height. BOTH sides rise and vent perfectly, it's just that i would like to have the car even/stock etc.

I've disconnected the battery for an hour, turned the air ride switch on/off etc nothing worked. How can i make the suspension return to stock height?? I really do not want to fool around with the height sensors, i do not want the car lower then stock-my area there are plenty of pot holes and dips so i can't afford doing this just for looks/handling-the stock height is fine for me.

The height of the bags depends on where the sensor is set. The control is the nipple on the upper control arm.

Both sides should be at about the same setting to be equal.

If you pull it down the height will be lower. All the way up you'll ride higher.

That's all it is...

If the system is operating normal then you would have to adjust the height sensors. The system only levels the car to what the sensors tell it. If the sensors are not set even the car will not sit level.

Welcome to the board. Where in LI are you?

Do exactly what the sensor lowering instructions say but make you goal for the car to sit level, not for it to be lower.

I'm in the carle place/valley stream area.

I've seen the diagrams, and last night i turned the wheels each way to look at the sensor location-easy to get to. What i don't understand though is how to actually adjust the sensor-the instructions are not too clear, for me lol.

Do i just loosen the knut at the bottom, and slide the whole sensor up..?? I know there are ball sockets and i need to be careful, i will. All i want to do is lower the passenger front about 1/2-1inch.

I'm in Ronkonkoma. I'm in a Mark VIII club. I'll let you know next time we meet up if you want to come out.

Yes just loosen the nut on the ball end and slide it down and retighten. Let the system cycle and see where it settles. If it's not level lowering it a little more or you may have to raise the opposite side a little if there is not enough adjustment on the passenger side.

Ya.... move up to lower. Its not a direct proportion. A half inch up does not mean a half inch down. Be VERY careful. In fact, spray with penetrating oil first. The ball stud break VERY easily and they are no longer available.

But then yes, loosen nut and slid up a few millimeters. WHen you tighten it, do not tighten it much. Its not load bearing.

Don't listen to Rich! (He changed his cars to crappy springs anyway so what does he know.)
UP is DOWN, DOWN is UP for the front adjustment.

For the rear, there is only one adjustment for both sides. UP is UP in that case. You can't adjust the side to side in the rear anyway so I would work on the front first.

Guys thanks alot, i'm happy to get so many responses. I will do this tonight after work, i'll let you know how it went.

I'm also at markviii.org w/same name incase you see me there.;)

Hey Guinnessman, us eboth websites, thats what I do. But this one is a lot more fun! Good to see you here, and hope you got your question answered.

I actually didn't get to do the lowering...too cold last night jeez. Today it's going up to high 40's so hopefully i wont wuss out again.:p

Calvin is a wanking :q:q:q:q:q:q:q. Screw that gay ass site.

Guys thanks alot for the replies. About an hour ago i loosened the knut at the sensor to lower the front passenger. I was very careful, the nut came loose with just a 1/2 turn, and i moved the sensor up as far as it could go, which is roughly 3/8-1/2 inch. The car was on, and the air ride switch off. I then tightened the nut just enough, alittle past finger tight. I turn off the car, pop the air ride switch on and the system cycles and it didn't lower or get any higher at all.

I even took it up to 75mph for a short run on the highway, got home, everything functioning normal-and the height didn't budge at all.

???

I moved the sensor all the way up until it stopped (bout 1/2 inch), then tightened the nut while i was holding the sensor in the position...weird??

I just got back from fiddling again. This time, i went to the drivers front sensor, loosened it, lowered it alittle so this would raise alittle to off set the high passenger side. It is still roughly the same, no major change. Odd lol...i'm glad atleast no corner sags after a moist night though.

Then again, a 1996 w/56k miles i suppose the air suspension could just "go" any minute.

Try loosening the bolts that hold the bracket on and you can move them up or down a little. If that doesn't work then maybe you have a bad height sensor or will have to follow the instuctions for sensor lowering just move the brackets less to even the car out.

Um, was the car running. Did you open/close the doors, etc. They system does not instantly respond and actually if you throw the sensor too far for too long it can fault the air ride.
