So I'm going to do a tune up on my 00' ls6 i already have the plugs new boots, pcv vlave I need to get the maniflod gasket. What I'm really asking any tips for removing the manifold ? The car has 115k on it this is the first set of plugs I'm doing on it. I don't know the history of the car, but any other thing I should look out for once I'm change the plugs? Any thing that I should look at or service. I just spent 300 on getting the heat to work and 100 for one new control arm still need to change the right one,
onecs agian thanks for any info helpfull info.

General advice: Take your time and be careful. One of the best advice I got off here is to make use of your digital camera the entire time. You'll appreciate it on the way back up.

Specifically, do yourself a huge favor and avoid some future headaches. BE SURE TO REPLACE THE PCV HOSE when you replace the valve. The hose is a unavoidable problem that ALL us V6 owners deal with. It's only like few dollars but an absolute headache when it goes. IMO that's the most important thing to do when you change the PCV valve. Also note that the valve & hose will be a little tricky to get loose once you get there. Maybe I just have big hands but it was a tight area.

Of course with the spark plugs, examine each one and look for oil in the sockets when you remove. Again a future time saver, most of us have to replace the valve cover gaskets at this point. The upper manifold is fairly straight forward, but to get to the PCV valve you're going to need to also remove the lower manifold too. I replaced the gaskets on both while I was at it. Also, you're going to need to disconnect the fuel rail so make sure you have one of those disconnect tools. I may still have my pictures. If I find them I'll send them.

Do you mean valve cover gasket?

Check out the TECH ARTICLES at the top of the page and go to LS, most of what you are going to due has a write up.
